Naga Sadow: Throw It Into The Rite Gear

Good evening, Clan Naga Sadow. I hope that all of you enjoyed your May the 4th this year. In this report I am going to be chatting a bit about some things that have been on my mind, some things we are looking forward to, some things that are still in the semi-planning stages and of course how all of you can factor into all those things I have mentioned just now. And of course I am going to talk to you all a bit about the Unchained Malady and talking a bit on some numbers with you that I am going to chat up some.

The Unchained Malady

Well, first things first. First, I want to offer up an apology. The grading of the Unchained Malady has not yet been completed. This leaves the fictional effects of the event in something of a limbo, but one thing that I can speak to from numbers shown thus far would be our participation numbers, ratios and the like. The numbers that I have will not be complete. I can speak from partial data as that is what I have at my fingers. The first metric I would like to talk about from the Clan Naga Sadow sphere is UNIQUE PARTICIPATION. Of course, in general terms, this means when someone takes place in at least one event. This is also the easiest metric to boost as all it takes is one entry in an event: ie, one flash game, one stick figure, one spit out 500 words of fiction over a lunch break. Specific to this event, we saw a total of 38 unique participants.

Of those 38 unique participants, 18 of them came from Clan Naga Sadow. That means that we had just below 49% of our Clan's membership take part in the Unchained Malady. The remaining numbers are split between Clan Taldryan and seven folks from other Clans who decided they dug our lower-effort competitions and wanted to put in an entry. When you look at the numbers as they stand, that means that some 47% of unique entrants were Clan Naga Sadow. When you sort it down to the intended target units of the event, we see that Clan Naga Sadow comprised 60% of unique participants. So in that way, it was not a bad showing. The next metric I can talk about is going to be the number of entries. I don’t have the data for Taldryan entries as easily on hand as my Taldryan counterpart, but I can attest that apart from the possibility of human error, we saw 62 entries from Sadowans in this event over all competitions. This is 3.44 entries per member on average. Now, this event was certainly smaller in scale than some and might not have appealed to all our membership. That said, in an event where there are ten competitions and five of them could be considered ‘low effort’ (flash games, graphics, ect) that is a metric that we can bring up in future events. Which offers an interesting segue into my next point. If I am to be frank, I would like to talk about more metrics, but until we get out of grading limbo, I am a little tied on what I have that I can immediately talk about. I do look forward to bragging on Clan Naga Sadow though, don’t you worry!

A Rite of Supremacy On The Horizon

An old staple (though seemingly increasing in frequency in recent years as I understand it) of the Dark Brotherhood. They are a chance for the members of Clans to show up and give their A game. Now, I would like to serve up a quick reminder to the members of Clan Naga Sadow that a Rite of Supremacy is not, despite its title, a Great Jedi War. The big focus during a Rite of Supremacy is in participation over things like placement. The lion’s share of points in these Vendettas are in how many members of the Clan put in entries as opposed to who can bring in the most placing entries.

What does this mean for all of you? If you need participation in a bin for the Rite, all it might take is a quickly written fiction or a round with a flash game, or twenty minutes to complete some PVP and then you will have a bin ticked off. Not everyone can craft an event-winning entry (as much as I love writing, the competition is stiff), but every member can put in an entry. Every member can participate to contribute to the Vendetta effort. When we all participate, we all take part in the Vendetta effort that can see us placing in such an event.

We will be BLOWING up the Telegram channel and your email boxes with more information and some good old fashioned pom-pom shaking as we cheer you all on in this effort. Keep your eyes on those comm channels and we will be glad to keep you in the know as we stride forward together in this Rite! On that note, be sure to check the Fist’s latest report to see where you can sign up for event-related gaming. If you have any further questions from the available data, you can also look at the Vendetta page available on our wiki.

Competitions of Note

  • Name Those Ships runs until the 21st, so everyone has a chance to name some Sadowan fleet assets

  • Trials of Fire gaming competitions are available in Heroes of the Storm, Player Versus Player and Star Wars: Squadrons flavors

  • GMRG monthly competitions are a regular staple of the club

  • The Holiday Building Siege is being run by Quaestor Malisane for all Sadowans to take part in. It is a chance to write a fiction of your character holding off or defeating a group of insurrectionists attacking Mount Dakhan or Alabrek Castle as the other Sadowans are away at a party**

  • none of these to your liking? Well, you can always look at the competitions page to find something that does! And if you don’t like some of the options and have some great ideas of your own? Well, I invite you to reach out to the Summit or go ahead and run some competitions of your own design!

Parting Words

I have been seeing a good jump in gaming activity of late as some of our folks have been gaming in Heroes of the Storm, a bit in The Old Republic and a bit in Star Wars: Squadrons. We also saw a decent showing from Clan Naga Sadow in the Unchained Malady. Heading into this Rite, we have a prime opportunity to shine. If everybody shows up, if everybody participates, if everyone puts their best foot forward, the Vendetta is a chance for us to thrive together. As such, the Clan and House Summits will be cheering everybody along every bit of the way.

Remember, things like stick figures count for participation in graphics competitions. You don’t have to write a prize-winning novel to get some activity in for a fiction competition. A quick round with a flash/html5 game could be a few minutes of your lunch break. I hope to see everyone taking part and showing once again that Clan Naga Sadow has the wherewithal to compete with the best of them. Plus, wouldn’t it be sweet to see Clan Naga Sadow doing more than just chasing after those folks in the top 3 again?

I know I want to, and I look forward to seeing each of your join us in this endeavor.

For Orian, For the Clan,

And don’t forget: Conquest is our destiny; we shall not fail.
