Plagueis Consul Report 1: The Wide Brimmed Hat of Dread

Hello! And welcome to my first report at Consul of Clan Plagueis. Wow that feels strange to say! Well, buckle in, because we’ve got a lot to cover today!

Most of you know me already, but I am TuQ’uan Varick di Plagia, A.K.A. TuQ, A.K.A. The Hat, I joined the DB almost exactly 9 years ago and have been a proud member of Plag that entire time. Of those 9 years, 7 were spent in various summit positions. I was BTL of both The Circle and Hidden Blades, Aedile of Karness Muur, Quaestor of both Karness Muur and Tyranus, Rollmaster for the Clan, Proconsul twice and now Consul. All of this isn’t to brag, but to show my dedication to this clan.

Over the years the clan has had some good times and some not so good times. We haven’t always been the most active clan, nor have we had the largest roster, but one thing that I have learned over the years is that Plagueians are dedicated, they are passionate and they always seem to rally when the call goes out. That’s what I love about this clan. We are small, but mighty. Sure, we can be a little silly and goofy, but when the time comes, we step up and rise to the occasion. And now, it’s my turn to step up.

With the recent news of Slagar stepping away from the Brotherhood, I was asked if I would take on the role of Consul. Despite being a bit nervous, I said yes. Now, I won’t lie, this is a little bittersweet for me. Slags was the consul of Plag when I first joined and helped give me my first taste of leadership in the club, so it is a little strange to take over from such a monolithic pillar of our community, but he had faith in my abilities to do so, so I will do everything in my power not to disappoint him or you.

I won’t go on too much more about Slags as a leader since I already had a lot to say on that subject when he was recently awarded a Ruby Scepter, which, if you haven’t read that rec yet, I highly recommend you do! In short, Slag spent the 5 years leading Plagueis. Helping to breathe fresh life into the clan when it needed it most and along with the rest of the summit, bolstering activity numbers within Plagueis. It may sound obvious, but this is something I want to continue working on. Over the past year and a bit I have been working to provide more opportunities for Plagueians to compete and earn crescents, XP and credits through a monthly competition series. While this provided more opportunities for Plagueians to participate, it revealed another issue, a lack of competition organizers. What started as something I ran on my own has expanded to include the entire summit giving more opportunities to see a variety of competitions. Building on this, my main goal at the moment is to work with the rest of the summit to continue our activity growth, look at new avenues to explore and work on giving members a deeper connection to clan lore.

Speaking of the summit, we have a few changes there as well! With a spot open for Proconsul, we’ve had to do some shuffling and rearranging. I decided not to open applications at this time and instead reached out to the current Summit members. After speaking with the other members of the team, I have decided to offer the role to my former boss, Furios Morega di Plagi. Furios has a long history as both a member and a leader within the clan and his guidance when I first entered leadership was invaluable. I truly look forward to working with Furios as my Wrath! But wait, doesn’t that mean there is now another spot open in the summit? And to that I say, you are correct! J’Kast, who has been a rising star amongst leadership and has continually proved himself as Aedile, will be taking over the role as the Right Hand of Dread. I will let Furios and J’Kast introduce themselves to you more in their own reports.

Plagueis News

With everything going on lately, the results of the latest House V House event, Ascending Convergence were delayed. But fret not, for I have the numbers. Before I get to that, I can proudly say both houses put in a valiant effort, and after digging through some very impressive entries we have the final results. In the end it was tight and the members of House Tyranus put up one hell of a fight, but in the end House Ventress was able to bring home the victory with a whopping 731 points!

Now, let’s take a look at some numbers.

Compared to the last entry in the Ascending series, our participation rate was down to just under half the members participating in at least one competition throughout the event. While the participation rate is a little disappointing, we actually had an impressive total number of entries. This was the third entry in the “Ascending” series, and while it had the least number of participants, it actually had the most entries.

Convergence: 181

Taking a look at the individual scores, I want to give a HUGE shoutout to Arawyn taking the top spot on the leader board with Furios and Tahiri hot on his heels for second and third places respectively. Great job to all of our top 10 participants!
