Plagueis News

As you may have seen, since my last report our good friend and the friendliest Sith around, Tahiri Thorn Morte Tarentae, accepted the position as Nora’s Pro Consul in Arcona. This is a huge opportunity for Tahiri and I want to wish her all the best over there! This does however mean that we had yet another open position on the clan summit as Quaestor of House Ventress. Having worked as Tahiri’s Aedile for the past 6 months, Blackhawk has agreed to step up to the role of Quaestor.

After some deliberation, we have decided to close the battleteams, Hidden Blades and the Ascendant Outreach Corps and move its leaders into the open Aedile roles. Astralis will now be the Aedile of House Ventress and Kalen Joss has agreed to take on the role of Aedile for House Tyranus. Please help me congratulate all of our summit members on their new roles! I have the utmost faith in each and every member of the Clan Plagueis summit and I am very excited to see what this team can do going forward.

Now, I do want to address one more thing quickly before we move on. I did mention that we were closing the Battleteams, but this is just functionally on the site. Both battleteams will continue to exist fictionally for the clan and members are still able and welcome to write their characters working with or for either team. This is also not necessarily a permanent decision and we may look at opening them up again at a later date.

Now, it’s time for the main event…

The Main Event

We are currently on the eve of a Brotherhood wide battle for supremacy, Great Jedi War XVII!! For those of you who have never participated in a GJW before or for those that just need a refresher, I am going to break things down a little bit for you. A GJW is a Brotherhood wide event that advances the club wide storyline while putting all of the clans into competition against each other as each clan vies for the title of First Clan.

How does one earn the title of First Clan I hear you ask? Well that’s a great question my fellow Plagueian! By helping your clan earn the most points, as for how to do that, there are two ways. First is participation in Bins, there will be separate bins combining similar competitions across the different phases of the war as well as Event Long Bins that will run from the beginning to the end of the war. Participation in at least one competition in a Bin will earn you points, participating in at least one competition in ALL of the Bins will generally earn you bonus points!

The second way to earn points for your clan is through placement! Putting in the extra effort in a competition type you’re particularly strong in and placing could very well be what separates the First Clan from the rest!

Worried about not placing? DON’T BE!

We are here to help you polish up those entries and take them to the next level. You may have noticed in Discord a new chat called Plagueis War Chat. This is designed to be a space where you can get feedback, ask for proofing, find teammates for group comps or get clarification on competitions. This is also a place where you can find and give encouragement to your fellow clan-mates as we all do our best to show the rest of the Brotherhood just what it means to be a member of the Ascendant Clan!

Before you go off ready for war, I want to give a little piece of advice on how to approach a GJW. Once the competitions have gone live take a look at them, find one competition in each Bin that you feel confident in and go for it! In order to receive placement credit for a Bin you just need to participate in one of the competitions contained in the Bin, by picking one competition per Bin to focus on you can avoid stretching yourself too thin while increasing your chances of placement. Once you know what competition you want to participate in, prioritize them. I generally start with the fictions, by familiarizing myself with the competition requirements I can begin to piece together the skeletal structure of what my story will become.

Generally competitions such as Fictions, Audiobooks or Battle Plans can be the most time consuming so getting an early start on them will allow you to put in the time to ensure that you are telling the story you want to tell and getting an entry in on time (nobody wants to miss the submission deadline)! Another important thing to do early on in the war is look at group based competitions that you are interested in participating in, this allows you to start forming teams for these competitions and allows everyone involved to become familiar with the requirements and to start brainstorming. Once you have participation in each of the bins, then go crazy and submit to more competitions!!

One last piece of advice I have for everyone is to READ THE COMPETITION RULES CAREFULLY! You don’t want to get disqualified from a puzzle competition for not including the puzzle piece count/having the wrong number of pieces or gaming for not playing the right game mode.

In the end the most important part of a GJW as well as the club as a whole is to have fun! This is really important because it’s why we are here, it’s why we signed up and keep coming back to the Brotherhood.

DJB-wide Competitions

This list looks a little shorter than usual, but that’s because this is the biggest competition around!

Final Thoughts

Good luck in the War Plagueians! Don’t forget, both the summit and your fellow members are here to help, we will be poking and checking in on you as the event progresses to see how things are going. We are a small but mighty clan, so let’s see if we can bring home the First Clan title!

As always, I have an open door, so if you have any questions or want to chat, feel free to hit me up by email ([Log in to view e-mail addresses]) or on Discord.

Until next time,
