Galeres Report: Jul' '26

Well, what a privilege to write my first Galeres report in the wake of a Great Jedi War win...

I'd like to start by saying THANK YOU for welcoming both Jon (Sashar) and I as your Aedile and Quaestor so warmly. I wont lie, I was nervous—some of you are new to us, and we are new to some of you—but you brought us into the fold without question, treating us as one of your own... as if we'd been here the whole time. I won't speak for Jon, but it certainly touched me. I cannot put into words how much your community spirit and friendliness means. Thank you, all of you.

I wasn't the only dusty old fart to come crawling out of the woodwork for the war, but more important are the newer members we have joining the House. A special shout out to Onaca, the 'Second Little Orvling' who has the (mis)fortune of landing in Galeres. Onaca is our new educator on what is 'cool'. Turns out, gifs, saying 'lol' and 'yeet' make you old. Who knew? Welcome, Onaca; I can't wait to see you outperform Orv in all manner of things.

I haven't quite figured out the whole super special Markdown Table of Contents like in the recent Qel-Droma report (which you should absolutely go and read), so this will have to suffice:

Contents

  1. Great Jedi War Results
  2. Recognition
  3. What's next for Galeres

Great Jedi War Results

We did it! You did it!

FIRST CLAN

I'm so proud of every single member of Galeres and of Arcona. The clan showed up when it counted. This is what happens when we come together (phrasing).

Nora and Tahiri will be going over the detail clan-wide. Wally and Revs have both covered Qel-Droma's performance in their recent report, so now it's Galeres turn.

The Summit received data from Council very quickly after the results were announced. The Summit, being the nerds we are, have been reviewing this data to gain some clues as to how we managed to deliver what we did.

First, let's look at Galeres-wide performance data (note: this format was stolen from Wally with his consent, before I iterated to be cooler and less purple):

Alt Text

Galeres brought a full house to GJW XVII: eighteen members, no passengers, and 2,500 points between us. Three of ours landed in Arcona's top ten, led by Atty, who finished third clanwide (behind Wally and Orv—big up to both!) and delivered nearly a quarter of the house total on her own, placing among the clan's best in both Phase I and Phase II. Bograt joined her in the top ten with a strong showing across every stage of the war. Koda Kendis deserves particular credit: fourth in the house with fewer participation points than most, but with the clan's fourth-best Phase II score to his name. Honourable mentions go to Luka Zarkot and Sashar, who both maxed their participation and punched hard in the Event Long, and to Ta'xi, who dropped in for Phase II and placed. Best of all, we grew into the war rather than out of it: by Phase II, Galeres was producing four of every ten placement points the clan earned. And to everyone who answered the muster call, whether you topped a leaderboard or simply turned up and fought: 535 participation points (out of the clan's 1,161) don't earn themselves.

And that's something I want to call out in particular: participation on it's own contributed a significant amount of Arcona's points. This was our focus all along. Participation is so important when it comes to GJW performance, and you all answered the call.

You can see below how important participation was to our performance:

The House put in a shift and I speak for both Jon (Sashar) and I when I say thank you!

Recognition

To the victors go the spoils.

I'm also pleased to announce that our very own Ellisyn Kendis was promoted from EQ2 to EQ3! Congratulations Elly!

IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING AWARDS

I believe I've spoken to all of you in relation to rewards by now. I am keen to make sure we award all of you for your efforts. If a name isn't listed above, it's likely because I have had a discussion with that individual to discuss what alternative options are available. If I haven't had the conversation with you, please reach out to me or Jon. It's important we award our membership. Activity is important to recognise. I will pull every lever at my disposal to ensure everyone gets the recognition they deserve. It's extremely important to me (as is non-site XP, which I am also keen to ensure we award).

What's next for Galeres

Glory of Galeres

Glory of Galeres

Some of you may be aware that we in Galeres have a House reward, the Glory of Galeres. This is a badass motherflippin' stabby sword highly prestigious, time-limited reward given by the Quaestor of Galeres to a member of the House for their exceptional contribution.

Well, Jon and I have had a discussion with Nora and have decided to award this to Luka Zarkot. Luka was the first member of the Clan to achieve wholesale participation across all events, and also put a very health 200+ score onto the table for Arcona.

Thank you, Luka. You have the sword for six (6) months, use it wisely (aka, stab some dudes).

What's coming

I won't beat around the bush (phrasing), Galeres needs some work. We need to really think about the fictional background for the House, and develop something that we can all get behind.

There have been some wonderful ideas developed by leaders past, and they have all served to build on previous developments, like strata in the ground. My proposal is that we strip all of that back. We go back to the barebones of the House (i.e., Arcona's martial House, home of the Arconan forces) and build out from there.

That's the plan. In the fullness of time, I will be pulling together planning board and projects. I will also be seeking your input on what needs to change. Another member pulse survey will be coming, and I'll ask you for your candid appraisal of what you think we need to improve, what we need to leave alone, and what we need to build from scratch. Stay tuned, this will come out in the next Galeres report, or on Discord.

Closing Remarks

Arcona has always been exceptional, and Galeres holds a special place in my heart. Thank you, all of you, for continuing that tradition. In the short time I've been back, I've seen the Clan win a GJW, and I've seen the House flourish. Many of you (Galeres and beyond) have also reached out to celebrate what we have achieved and reflect on our recent surge in activity. Long may this continue.

We've lots of work to do for the House and the Clan, but it's all so achievable. Plus, we have some cool competition ideas that I can't wait to share with you—you're gonna love it (Achievement! Tim Apple reference included!).

Oh, and until then, come join the one-sentence Run-On I am currently DM'ing. There are now enough participants for this to be first-level crescents... Participation is simply 100 words (and each post is limited to 30 words, so four posts minimum). It closes at the end of this month; so far there has been a crashed ship, acid rain, an abandoned facility, beastly bugs, and now some gnarly starfighters. And we're still not done...

Until next time.

Your servants,

Quaestor Aedile
Wuntila Arconae, Quaestor of House Galeres, Dragon of Selen, Magnificent Blue Beast, Master of Disappointment Sashar Erinos, Aedile of House Galeres, Founder of the Erinos Clan, Twink Hunter

Fantastic report Wun!

Grats all. Proud to be Gal. Not keen on the striping the strata metaphor but will look out for survey times and discussion.

Wonderful report-- awesome breakdown. Congrats once again, Arcona!!
