Headmaster Report #7

Ch-ch-ch-changes!

As announced in my most recent news post, the long-awaited Leadership Management course is now live. I also announced that I would kill Leadership Studies and Fundamentals after a brief transition period: that is now done, and the Department of Leadership Studies is finally complete! (for now).

Our resident evil genius has updated the requirements for the Leadership Maven and Savant degrees as I have outlined several times, but with one minor-ish change: because of the way the database tracks time, the time-in-position requirements for the degrees are based on the assumption that there are four full weeks in a month. Holding two qualified positions for at least 75% of the required time-in-position for each of the positions still earns you the degree. Here are the requirements with the number of days included.

Maven:

  • Leadership Reports
  • Leadership Rewards
  • Leadership Competitions
  • Serve in a leadership position. Leadership in multiple, non-consecutive positions may count, but only if you held the non-consecutive positions for at least 75% of the required time.
    • Consul or Proconsul: 3 months (84 days) (75% = 2.25 months [63 days])
    • Quaestor or Aedile: 4 months (112 days) (75% = 3 months [84 days])
    • Battle Team Leader: 5 months (140 days) (75% = 3.75 months [105 days])

Savant:

  • Dark Maven: Leadership
  • Leadership Management
  • IRC 301: Operator Studies
  • Chamber of Justice I
  • Serve in a leadership position. Leadership in multiple, non-consecutive positions may count, but only if you held the non-consecutive positions for at least 75% of the required time.
    • Consul or Proconsul: 6 months (168 days) (75% = 4.5 months [126 days])
    • Quaestor or Aedile: 8 months (224 days) (75% = 6 months [168 days])
    • Battle Team Leader: 10 months (280 days) (75% = 7.5 months [210 days])

The wiki degree page will be updated to reflect these changes shortly. To be clear, these new requirements are now active and the old requirements no longer apply. Fundamentals and Studies are dead and buried (and their academic credits retired), and Leadership Management replaces them. Now go forth and take exams!

A Good Start

Zagro Fenn, newly appointed Professor of CORE Studies has edited all seven exams within his domain. The exams are now less duplicative (particularly the light side COREs) and easier to read. Great work, Zagro!

The one where I predict the future

My team has a few projects near completion, and I hope to see at least one of them published before the holiday season drowns us all in eggnog and rum. On tap are three courses: a revised Grammar Studies, a rewritten Force Philosophy I, and a new take on a classic, IRC Basics (now with less Windows XP!). All are nearly finished and should be out in January, if not before.

The Audit!

Audit work is progressing on both the Department of Writing Studies and the Department of Lore Studies. With Fading Light out of the way and some downtime before the Great Jedi War, I'm going to refocus my staff on releasing revised courses in November and December.

Top Exam Takers!

Since my last report, the top five exam takers at the SA are:

Name # of Exams
PRT Rod 29
PRT Magik 25
PRT Drake Starfire 23
NOV Ramsi 15
GRD Azmodius Megalex 12

Great work, everyone!

Conclusion

As always, I'd like to close this report by asking for your help. The SA is a massive wall of text that covers ever-shifting topics and is prone to typos and run-on sentences. If you spot substantive or grammatical problems, please let me, Ood, and the course PROF know so that we can fix them ASAP. As we work through the Departments during the audit, we're also going to be asking for help reading and editing -- if you have any particular expertise, let us know when we announce the next Department being audited. There are shiny things available. :P
