MEDIC!

Royal Ohmen Hospital,

Accident & Emergency Ward

Blood-curdling shrieks and chatter filled the ward while nurses and porters skittered across the floor like ants, up to their waving arms in chaos. The crashing of steel trays and tools onto the floor accompanied the orchestra, as many patients, former soldiers of war, fought back against the treatment. While many of the chairs and lounges were filled with the bandaged, bloody and sleeping soldiers lower on a triage, it was behind closed curtains that mayhem began.

“I said hold him steady! He’s contaminating the scalpels!” A roar came from Lexiconus, his bloodied latex gloves against a waterfall of red and yellow. Screaming out and jigging his body around in resistance, the patient’s stomach erupted with a mixture of coagulated blood and pus. Together, a total of six nurses restrained the man, locking his limbs with their weight as the remainder shredded his heavy-duty clothing with their scissors. Throughout the procedure, his gills caught the scent of something foul, and he couldn’t remember the reason for it.

Damn, that is a raw scent...what is it?

With an auto-cauteriser in hand, his steadiness was tested as he tried to repair the femoral artery - the main artery in his thigh. His gills caught the odd stench with each breath he took, but he needed to focus on the task at hand. One slight slip and the man would lose his leg forever. A skinny, blonde nurse was flung into the back curtain as the soldier’s arm finally came loose. He punched as hard as he could muster at the man holding his other arm, but the nurse was more experienced at this and dodged the flying fist with instinct. Lexiconus caught sight of the nurse on the floor and grumbled at her.

“They don’t pay you to sit on the tiles, Chevnok. Grab that arm and don’t let go!” His words were set in stone, all staff knew the risks of failing to comply. Quicker than a mynock on a power cable, she leapt up and latched herself around the patient’s flailing arm. With the artery sealed and cauterised enough, Lexiconus set his mind on the puss coming from the soldier’s abdomen. He still wasn’t certain of the cause, but he set his mind into delving inside quickly with his fingers. The nurse working the heart monitor quickly took his place and started repairs on the man’s thigh, giving him a vicious but effective jab of local anaesthetic to the wound area. His smooth fingers slipped past the skin and muscle, deep inside the guts of the patient. He felt around and slowly closed his eyes, mapping the organs with his knowledge and closing the cuts with dark side essence. Then his hand slipped over to the liver, and he felt it.

That is one deep incision...the flesh has already rotted away...can he be saved? There’s scarring…

With a soft but heavy sigh, Lexiconus slowly pulled his bloodied hands out and backed away. He urged the nurses to do the same, who looked on at him in curiosity but mirrored it. He whipped the gloves from his blooded coat and left the curtain, throwing the gloves into a nearby trash compactor. Today was done for him, another death on the tally chart, another untreatable memory to store.

“Doctor! We had him in remission, why did you stop?” A scurrying nurse quickly jogged over to meet his pace, her face in complete shock.

“Cirrhosis of the liver is not treatable and the shrapnel was embedded for too long. He would of been dead before we got the dialysis machine working. Take care of the paperwork, would you?”

She nodded firmly and turned off to the cleaning station, whereas Lexiconus quickly set off to a decom shower at the entrance. Passing through the blurry atoms with a woosh, he turned off and up a service stairway. Storming into a darkened hallway, with nothing but mouse droids and buzzing above his head, Lexiconus approached to an unmarked door and unlocked it. Stepping inside, the Quarren slowly walked around and sat in front of a holographic table, and a powerful image of Lord Oscura appeared.

“What is thy bidding, my lord?” The Quaestor gave a humble and deep bow.

“Quaestor Lexiconus Qor, it is important for you to note that one this date, I am no longer your Proconsul. Effectively immediately System Moff Rei will be replacing me,” Qor looked at him in surprise and replied. “But my lord, where are you going?” His face darkened on the image as his gravely voice boomed. “Ask Grand Marshal Rei, she is your superior now.” With that, the image dissipated and left the Quaestor in darkness. Left in solitude thought.

Change has happened, but was it for the better? Did Qor escape a stern word for losing the artefacts to Pravus? What is Rei going to do as Proconsul?

Introductions

Good day Imperials, and welcome to another summer edition of the House Imperium report! We’ve got a fair bit to read and go through, but before we go through that. I wanted you all to know that this report is a little late, on account of the feud taking our full attention, and I took a vacation since the 20th this month. But I am back and here for you all, so without further ado.

TO THE REPORT!

Clan News

Clouds and smoke subsides as us, the victors, finally emerge with our trophies. The priceless Sith artefacts within our hands, nothing will ever demoralise our faith...and they’re gone again. Courtesy of Sarin. Thanks, boss. You can read the epilogue and results here!

There is a gaming update & DLC update from our local FIST office. Be sure to give it a thorough read, as it holds an invaluable insight of what DLC Destiny is adding. Plus, there’s a new season of Diablo 3. YAAY

  • HM Report - Here - Help out if you can, I certainly would love an extra Historian’s eyes and hands.

I wanted to leave this till last because I believe it is vitally important to stress. The Dark Covenant, to most of us, is a set of rules enforced and provided so that ALL members are treated fairly, equitably and in the best interest of the Brotherhood as a whole. Not many of us understand what this truly means, but I will try to help you. If you are a victim of bullying, and I know many people who were, who do you turn to help you? The DC (Dark Covenant) protects you from that. How does a leader decide when a member is ready for an award, or a promotion? The DC covers you for that. What if a Consul is being unfair to his members, treating them wrongly and playing favouritism? The DC is here for that too.

In essence, it is our version of a country’s laws, but in a basic shape. Jac wants you to review his up to date version of the covenant here.

Read it like a good book. Try to understand it. And above all, voice your opinions honestly. If someone makes a slur at how obvious or transparent the section is to them but not you, ignore their remarks and go to the COJ themselves. You don’t need that. But make sure you read it, these changes affect everyone. Even Pravus.

Competitions

Below, are some competitions that are still running, you can fill your boots and pockets with as much crescents as you desire:

A friendly reminder that our former PCON and Mune are both co-hosting their own set of competitions, as part of the Character Workshop program. It is also known as the Personality Matrix! The prompts are really good, and I will be taking part too.

Activity

Wow. Just wow is all I can say. These results are amazing from you, Imperials.

And I just want to squeeze in a quick thank you for your kind words on my ‘Blade. It is amazing to see you all care for me, but even greater that you prove it with activity.

You can find the sheet below.

Activity Sheet!

Spotlight!

First on our list is an art piece from Delak, of his character meditating and rebuilding his custom lightsaber. A great piece from him, enjoy!

Next, Sparky and I did a bit of a fight squadron showdown on Battlefront the other night. Us Xboners kicked as many butts as we could, but we ultimately lost the battle. Check it out from Sparky-cam below!

Also, Dek took to the outer reaches of space and battled against enemy fighters in Star Conflict. This dynamic photo shows an immense level of detail that I am amazed by each day with this game. Enjoy.

Finally, a powerful poem describing how power affected our Mune, and the psychological issues he has with the dark side, day by day. Enjoy his Tanka Poem.

Power

Dossier #3607

Journey for knowledge

Delve ever deeper within

The shadows do devour

Darkness, maw ever gaping

The secrets locked in your heart.

Dare I fall to the dark?

Cool as night it embraces me

Love cherished

Lost again found, dark to dark

Shadows welcomed to my soul.

Fear not the shadow’s touch

Illusions lost to the wind

Scattered leaves

To know is to have power

Power to see the truth beyond the dark.

Final Thoughts

It’s that time again to Ask the Thulhu! Or his lithe, frail brother…

Dek Ironius the Second asks: What's the upcoming plan of the house for the next month? And what's your opinion on not having an Aedile?

Lex: The needs for plans are not necessary at this moment in time. A shift in leadership means a shift in thinking and taking actions, something we never do thoughtlessly. For the next month, you should see some light-hearted comps coming out, but don’t expect much. The house is still repairing their wounds over the last battle against CNS. But in terms of having no Aedile for the undetermined future?

Dancing Gif

Blade asks: What do you plan to do with your new office space? I suggest a tank full of space piranhas. You can take a swim anytime. They don't bite much.

Lex: Foster home for unfortunate and mildly psychotic dark side orphans. Definitely.

Drake asks: Why are you a squid?

Lex: Why does the rain fall? Why do flowers open at dawn? Why does all the cosmos in the universe form into a tight, little ball and then explode, creating life? Because it is my nature OOC-wise: I couldn’t decide between a nautolan and a quarren, so I flipped a coin.

Cyris asks: How wet could a midget get if a midget could get wet?

Lex: A midget could get wet if he would get wet, so a midget could but would get wet if he wasn’t wouldn’t get wet and couldn’t get wet. Savvy?

Conclusively, it is with a heavy heart that we see two amazing members leave Imperium behind. Firstly, Blade was appointed the new Quaestor of Excidium, I congratulate her on that. She was trained by the best, so she will continue to be the best. There may be a hint of In-character rivalry but we will see what happens soon, it is all in the air.

Secondly, and the news that saddened me the most, Cyris our PCON decided to resign from his position. Not many of you saw what he truly did, except for his expert art skills and a knack for clan justice. But behind the scenes, Cyris represented a powerful teacher and master in his trade, he became a diplomat literally overnight just for the feud. He has wrote and read a lot so he can fit better into his duties, and even in a new environment, he still found time to be himself.

Thank you for all your hard work, Cyris. We will miss you.

That’s all from me, folks! Until next time, have a great summer!

I'll just cuddle this boat until they're gone..
