No Taxation Without a Vacation

OK, I admittedly had a hard time coming up with a title for this report, but, honestly, it actually fits a lot of the things I’m going to be talking about. First, I want to apologize for missing my report last month. Life just stacked a bunch of things up on me (2 jobs, 70+ hour work weeks, illness, etc.) that just caused me to miss it. That’s not usually how I roll, but it happens. For those who don’t know, job #2 is working for a company that might have a green square for a logo and does a lot of things involving the number “1040”. Such activities wrapped up earlier this week, so I’ve got a lot more time on my hands now. Thus, I foresee a lot of things getting done that I had been putting off. But before we dive in, I should wish everyone a happy Easter/ Zombie Jesus Day/ Egg Laying Rabbit Day, or whatever your preferred term is. Was trying to find an appropriate seal when I came across this. Ronovi should approve.

(For the uninitiated, that’s the San Francisco Giants mascot, Lou Seal)

Clan Events and Such

Last month we wrapped up our latest cooperative endeavor, Operation Antiquity, with Clan Naga Sadow. I hope you all enjoyed the event, I know I sure did. It was a great pleasure working with Bentre and his folks and I think we put together a good event. Over the 3 week event we had a total of 96 entries. That’s not horrible, but I think we can do better in the future. If there’s something we can do differently in future events, please don’t hesitate to let me know.In fact, Tahiri has put together a little Survey to gauge interest in certain types of events. I also want to give a shout out to Ronnie and TuQ for their assistance in running the event. They put on some interesting competitions and help made the event the success that it was. Way to go you two!

Though O:A, as we’ve been calling it amongst the summit is past, we always got more stuff cooking for y’all to do. Zuser, for example, has worked up an interesting fiction competition It Belongs in a Museum!. This event gives you the chance to channel your inner fedora wearing archeologist to go hunting for an artifact. This event runs through May the 3rd. While there haven’t been any formal announcements as of yet, the Dark Council traditionally cooks up a slate of fun stuff for that most Star Warsy of holidays, Revenge of the Fifth!. Yeah, we’re a Dark Side clan, we party on the 5th, not that karking Jedi holiday that precedes it. Stay tuned for more information on that front.

As for clan events, we do have something in the works to talk about. While my original intention for our Q2 event was to do something Co-Op themed, I’ve decided to hold off on that. We had some issues in O:A that I want to go back to the drawing board as to how I want to implement that sort of event. The idea isn’t dead, it just needs some tweaking. However, we got something else in mind that everyone should enjoy. For those who have been around the clan, you might recall a rather fun event we had where we all went on a little vacation. Because of the success of the event (or the vacation, depending on your perspective), we’ve contacted our clan travel agent, Furios, for another exciting getaway. While we’re still working out all the details (which should be in Ronovi’s report), I can give you a hint as to the location. It’s a famous Star Wars location that’s known for its high ground and...

Also, while we’re on the subject of vacations...

Conseal Flee

Lets face it, after the kind of first quarter of the year I had, I need a break. Thus, I’ll be doing the whole fleeing for warmer locales again in the next couple weeks. On the 30th I’ll be getting on a plane down too Miami where I’ll be getting on a boat (specifcally the one below) for a few days and sailing around the Bahamas and Key West. I’ll be semi-reachable during this time, but will likely be disconnected in the evenings since the ship wants pretty exorbitant rates for unlimited wi-fi. Thus, if you need anything from 4/30-5/5, talk to that Ronovi person or your house summit.

Welcome to the Clan and Other Clan Happenings

Last weekend there was a little Star Wars convention known as Celebration. While I couldn’t get up to Chicago for the event, a number of DB folks did and our social media folks did a lot of work surrounding the event to promote the club. Thus, we’ve gotten an influx of new members in the past week. For those of you who just joined, welcome to the clan! We want to make the club a welcoming place for all of you. If you have any questions about how things work or want us to look over something you’re working on, don’t hesitate to contact me or any of the other members of the summit. We’re all here to help. For everyone else, I will be revamping the Master/Student intake program I started as RM here soon and get that going again in the not to distant future. In the meantime, if you want a student, you know how to reach me.

Also in the last week, we had our newest Knight obtain his lightsaber. I’d like to take a moment and congratulate Fenrir on all his hard work. Welcome to the Knight club sir!

One more bit before I move on. One of the things I’ve pledged to wrap up is the storyline for our RO, Song of Discord. While we’re not necessarily killing off the idea of a clan RO, this storyline needs to wrap up so we can move on to other things. Thus, if there’s anything you want to do with this storyline, get it done before the end of the month. As to what comes next, we’re developing a few ideas, but we’re always open to more. The focus, though, will be on developing Aliso and expanding on some of the things we have there before we venture out again.

Around the DB

  • Everyone’s favorite doggo loving Voice, Wally, posted a summary of his and other DB members exploits at that aforementioned Star Wars gathering in the midwest. Lots of fun stuff in there, including photos (thankfully none of it is the tasty food they had without us ;) )

  • The Praetor to the Herald discusses the little art tournament the Herald is putting on. While drawing and the like isn’t my strong suit, it’s really nice to see a tournament style event for things other than gaming and the ACC. Good luck to those participating!

  • Speaking of tournaments, the Combat Master discussed the current status of the ongoing ACC event in a report as well. Of even greater interest though is some bits about expanding loadout options, clarifies the requirements for combat in ACC posts, and discusses how Armor works. If you ACC at all, you’re going to want to give this at least a couple reads.

  • In all his wisdom, Evant has decided to give us all a free NPC slot that will unlock at JM. Details in the post, but I think this is a cool new addition for all of us that want that special low level underling!

Closing Thoughts and Moment of Zen

seals

OK, there’s the obligatory gif that seemed in the spirit of this report. It looks like a bunch of seals on vacation. It’s going to be nice to finally get away and enjoy some tropical weather and cocktails and the like. Before I go though, I wanted to share one more thing. A little known fact about me is that growing up, I actually owned bunnies. Now, we had rather...anti-social bun buns, but they are still another animal I’ve always enjoyed (seals are a rather new thing comparatively). Thus, since today is Easter, I’m going to end with a video chock full of the cutest bunnehs I could find. I really love the second clip :).

Keep it evil mes amis!

~Arden
