I wanted to wrap up my first month as Aedile with this report, and dive right into what I’ve learned and in general just go over a month of great activity within Scholae Palatinae.
Introduction
For those who haven’t worked with me, or run into me on IRC yet, I am Evant Taelyan. I’ve been around the Dark Jedi Brotherhood for years but only recently have I had the time and energy to give back move and sought leadership roles. I have always found that I get out what I put in, and I have made some great friendships along the way.
I spent over a year as the BTL of Caliburnus, then most recently serving on the MAA staff while keeping up with the many projects I had started in Scholae Palatinae. Now I’m just trying to avoid starting more than I finish as I constantly work to provide more for everyone to do and create a fun and compelling story for us Imperials.
News
- Great Jedi War: The next GJW will take place on Korriban, and is currently under development by the Dark Council. While we wait, the Fading Light competition is still ongoing, you can check out the latest battles on the ACC Fading Light page, and start your own for some entertainment while you wait. We should also be seeing the Dark Crusade Ribbons coming available soon for those who participated in the year long event.
- Fourth Echelon Guardsman:The first quarter is over, and the Fourth Echelon Guardsman have made their choices and have their assignments. You can check out the full list here at the Dark Council Guardsman Accessories page. Within Scholae Palatinae, Dante has been awarded the Prisoner’s Stuncuffs for guarding the Justicar. If you want an opportunity at this, get to the gaming, once at rank X you have a chance to place among others at the top rank for a selection each quarter.
- MAA:There have been some changes on the Dark Council, with Kalen stepping down as MAA and Aabsdu being selected as his replacement. I have full confidence that we should see no change in the level of service from the MAA office through the transition. Aabs is however looking for applications to put together his own staff, I can personally say it’s a great opportunity and encourage everyone to take a look at his first report and apply if you are interested in service as Praetor or Magistrate to the MAA.
- Auto-AWOL: The Seneschal has implemented an auto-AWOL check into the website. This means that it will consistently check the last time a member has logged in, or received an award, to determine if they are active. Of course you will get a warning before anything happens and you can simply log in, and there is no penalty if you get moved to the rogues, to send a quick request in to be moved back to an active unit.
- Shared IP address: The Justicar keeps track of clones, which are not allowed, through IP tracking. If you and fellow family members, or others who share your IP are both participating in the Dark Jedi Brotherhood, please let Xen and I know, so we can keep the Justicar up to date on these relationships so that we won’t mistakenly pass judgement on members.

Projects
- Wiki: The wiki pages of Scholae Palatinae have been under revision for quite some time. Depending on when you take a look, there are some significant improvements being made on a daily basis. There are detailed lists to keep track at a high level of what we want to accomplish, with the end goal of course to have a documented record to help facilitate future fictions, and show what we’re all about. If you have any interest in helping out, I am certain that your help could be used. There is plenty of writing and work to be done, of course I recommend the Wiki Basics and Wiki Editing courses at the Shadow Academy as a starting point.
- Imperialization: We are the Imperial House, and we are making things more Imperial for the Empire! In reaction to the Looking Home campaign, and as part of our ongoing efforts to solidify our own identity, we will continue to expand on this role as Imperials, and make things even more Imperial. A lot of this is reflected in the wiki, but it has a large role in the competitions that are released, and on the Battle Teams which are continuing to become stronger every day.
- Team Structure: If you haven’t noticed already, Dorimad Sol was reopened to expand the available teams to three. There were many reasons to do this, but in the end I think we will only grow stronger by having this new team. Everyone was balanced, and with the opportunity to lead this new team based on the former house going to Dante, the opportunity was also given to Lucyeth to fill the open role left in Acclivis Draco. While we push for a strong finish to Caina, you can look forward to an expanded fictional development for each team, and a series of team specific competitions to kick that off.

I’ve had a lot of fun working on many different projects during my time in Scholae Palatinae, many that started before I even became Aedile, and many of which will never see the light of day. However, there is just as much fun in the failures as there has been in the successes. It takes quite a few bad ideas to get to the good ones that end up in the events like Caina or the upcoming even larger event of Judecca. I can’t think of a greater person to do all this with than Xen, but even more I have made a lot of great friends here in Scholae Palatinae. There are many new members who have recently joined and I look forward to working more closely with all of you, and all future members who I may not have even met yet.
