Ektrosis QUA Report #17 - I should do a theme for this

And now, we sleep

Fading Light has ended! It’s been a long and grueling competition, but in the end Taldryan came out victorious and has reclaimed the title of First Clan of the Brotherhood. While we didn’t win Fadling Light III, we still came in second for this round, which was enough for us to claim complete victory no matter how you skewed the results.

Thank you to everyone in Ekky who came out and participated for us, ensuring that Taldryan was also near the top of overall participation and helping us get a few more shiny ships and troops. This doesn’t mean we can just sit back, though. Everyone will now be gunning for us, but that is a familiar position in Taldryan. The Great Jedi War will be coming next year, and the scoring will require everyone single one of us to step up to the plate. I know we have a ton of talent in this House, and it is up to all of you to stand up and help us achieve greatness once more.

Loyal to Clan and Club

The Day of the Fox has come and gone. This is one of two days where we award Seals of Loyalty, and this time around we had 3 members of Ektrosis garner these special awards. First up is the man himself, Jac Cotelin, who has done all the things at all the times. No matter what is happening in his RL he is always around to help the DB in anything he can. Along with Jac we also had Zoron, our faithful Aedile who came back to us after a long hiatus and has really proven himself to be an integral part of this Clan, along with helping out the DGM with various odds and ends. Last, but not least, is Raistline, Warden leader, who has been around forever, and yet is still as spry as a young pup. He has been instrumental to the Clan’s recent successes.

All three of these members have proven themselves beyond a doubt to be truly dedicated to this Clan and club. Follow their example and you will go far.

Wait, now I have to do stuff?!

With things now quieting down for a little bit, that means we can now turn our attention to some more internal matters. There’s a ton of work that needs doing within the House, mostly revolving around updating all the wiki bits and what have you. I will be huddling with our Aedile and Battleteam leaders on some of these issues to get the ball rolling.

While I don’t see us running any large-scale competitions, we are hoping to ensure that the House continues having a steady stream of activity. If there is anything specific you would like to see us run, please let us know. We all have our favorite activities and now is a great time for us to run them! I love giving out medals and promotions, so I want to ensure everyone is able to do something that they enjoy.

Activity you say?

I thought I would do something a little different with the activity section this week, since our Dread Lord and Master is not a huge fan of plain-lists. So instead I will do a shout-out to some of our more active members this week. Let me know what you prefer, Ekky!

In what was the Week of Trivia, one Howlader D. Panda was the main man. He not only earned a nice shiny Gold Nova for Fading Light trivia, but also managed a few Legions of Scholar for random IRC trivia that popped up over the week. Oh, and he also helped apprentice our newest Knight!

On the gaming side of things we had Raistline not only garner the most Clusters of Fire, but also earned himself an upgrade to GMRG Rank VII.

Oh, and some guy managed to get a Gold Nova for Fading Light fiction.

The Force Zzzzz...

This week there was a little announcement about some movie getting some sort of title.

Honestly, I don’t know what to say about the title. I have heard some rumours about the direction that these new movies are going in, and from the sounds of it they will be a huge departure from the current EU. The title of this movie confirms a lot of that. Without any context I don’t know if this is a good title or not, but it offers some interesting probabilities. Either way, it’s a lot better than The Phantom Menace :P

Wide World of DB

It has been a fairly quiet week from the Dark Council, outside of the Fading Light results. We had news about a new Steam Group for the club to use. If you use Steam on the PC then you should go and join the rest of the club!

There was also a brand new Headmaster’s Report, giving us an update on some of the courses as well as announcing a new Professor for the CORE courses. There was also some talk about the trivia event from Fading Light. (Personal Note: Much hate for that trivia. It was difficult for the sake of being difficult, which is not what trivia should ever be.)

Dread Lord? I prefer to think of myself as a kind, benevolent ruler, whose people misunderstand his cruel taskmastering for what it actually is: love.

Yacks is Bloodfyre? Or am I misunderstanding things?

I'm not sure if "current EU" is the right phrasing. I wouldn't call it a departure (implying EU credibility at any time) so much as a disregard. Point being, I hope we (not targeting Halc specifically) do not spend the next year comparing what we find out about Ep 7 to whatever silliness the EU was doing.

I feel like plain-lists are useful if there is a wide amount of activity. I personally like to see both plain-lists and a more shout-out based style of activity. I used to do something similar in my reports, where I'd highlight certain members (mostly at random, to keep things alive) before or after I would give the wall of text that made up the bulk of activity. But as long as I get a good idea of what's going on and who's doing what, then I am game. It is useful to [for me] to know everyone who is active, not just who is highlighted.
