Greetings Ektrosis! As we enter the second month of the new year changes have been or will be occurring at every level of the club. We have new leaders on our Summit, other Clans are seeing changes in their Summit’s as well and soon there will be a change at the top spot of our club, Grand Master. With a Taldrya on the path to the Iron throne, now is the time for Ektrosis to take a leadership role in moving Taldryan forward. This clan has a storied history and I want 2018 to be the year people stop talking about what Taldryan used to be and once again start talking about it as a force to be reckoned with. We, the members of House Ektrosis, can lead that charge. It is time to remind the rest of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood just what we are all capable of and it starts with the events within our own unit.
With the events that are beginning at both the Clan and House level we have a chance to show our new Grand Master that Taldryan is ready to once again be a bastion of activity. I am happy to be the Quaestor of Ektrosis but I also know that there is very little, other than maybe Heroes of the Storm, I can teach most of you when it comes to being a dominant member of this club. I don’t have to teach any of you how to write fiction or explain what the ACC is. I don’t need to explain how the FistBot works to anyone. I don’t have to write guides on how to maximize participation in events. There isn’t a need to explain how the wiki works or encourage you to take Shadow Academy courses. When it comes to certain things, like run-ons for example, there is probably more I can learn from you than vice versa. I didn’t take on the role of Queastor because I thought anyone needed me to teach them how to be a member of this club. That would be a waste of my time and, to be honest, a bit of an insult the service everyone has already given to the Clan.
The focus of my attention is and will remain to be, awakening the sleeping giant within each and every one of you. I am not afraid to use every tool, every technique and every trick I have learned to do so. I won’t give up easily because I know that if I can simply rouse this House back into an active status that Ektrosis, and by extension Clan Taldryan, will turn into a self-guided missle that is capable finding its targets and demolishing them all by itself.

This club is first and foremost supposed to be about having fun and if there is anything I can do to help any of you return to the point where this club is again a source of enjoyment I am very happy to do so. I can’t speak for what occurred in the past but I can do whatever it takes to move us forward. Alone I will fail miserably but if we all work together, amazing times are ahead of us.
Although it has already been officially announced, Q has agreed to take on the position of Ekrosis’ Aedile. Although I had not had much chance to interact with Q before he expressed interest in the role, he and I have been chatting quite a bit since then. I am very happy to be working with him. Initially, Q will be taking over some of the features I included in my Aedile report and likely adding a bit of his own flavor as well. The two of us will also continue to support the Sphere of Research as it continues to grow and develop. Welcome Q!
We have had two new members join us in the last month, Kyle Dalanthan and Drake Torvar. They have both been a little quiet since they joined but if you see them around give them a big Ekky welcome!
I have no promotion, medals or awards to announce this month.
I am very happy to share that the first Research Project for the Sphere of Research and Intelligence is officially live: Research Project #1. The entire event consists of an event long fiction prompt and four quick weekly events. Getting participation in for each event should be very easy and it is important for how the SRI develops fictionally. While the fiction is your contribution to the moral direction of the organization, the smaller events act as a multiplier to make your decision with the fiction even more powerful in the calculations. The container competition itself links to all of the SRI resources on the wiki as well as providing some basic info on where the organization is fictionally.
The other important event is the Clan-wide Caelus Chronicles. This event will determine the future of our new home including how the residents of the system view us and how much control we gain over the system. The first round consists of a fiction prompt, a challenging puzzle (not sarcasm, it is difficult) and a graphics competition. I want Ektrosis to be well represented when final participation counts are tallied so please lend some of your talents to this event.
In my last Aedile report I gave a challenge for our House to place in 10 Brotherhood-wide competitions before my next report. I didn’t count my first Quaestor report because that came a little early due to the launch of the SRI. However delaying my report to coincide with the SRI gave us a few extra days and with that we did complete the challenge. I want to personally thank Raistline for doing all the heavy lifting and placing in eight competitions in that month (plus a little extra) time period, very impressive!
I am going to keep this challenge going. Between now and my next report let’s see if we can, as a team, place in fifteen (15) DJB-wide competitions.

CSP is still looking for a Proconsul.The last thing I want to do is encourage anyone to leave the House but I also recognize that members may be looking for their next challenge. I will never stand in the way of anyone looking for that… but I also am just as happy if you all stay.
I laid it out all at the start of this report so I won’t say much here. Everything starts small, even a restart. Let’s get it going Ektrosis!
