Ektrosis Quaestor Report #5: Incoming Targets

header

Introduction

Today's report brings you the results of SRI Research Project #3, some information on where Research Project #4 will be going as well as links to information about other goings on within Clan Taldryan and the rest of the club. Overall, general activity levels are picking up within Taldryan and I am proud to say that House Ektrosis can rightfully claim to be driving much of it. This isn't just propaganda from the Questor either, there is proof below that we are participating in, and winning, all sorts of different activities across the club. If we all resolve to keep this up Taldryan will once again be a force to be reckoned with and House Ektrosis will be a major reason for that.

House and Clan News

No major changes to leadership within the House or Clan to report but there have been some great reports posted by other members of the Summit. Also, there is another round of the Caelus Chronicles to participate in as well as some cool competitions being hosted by our House and Clan members.

Consul Rian Taldrya has been busy reporting. Consul Report 6.1 includes details on the next chapter of the Caelus Chronicles. His report on the [CSP+TAL] A Collective Danger Competition Results is also fun because Taldryan members Quejo and Halcyon placed second and third respectively. Rian has also recently reported on Caelus Chronicles Chapter 3 Results. Props to Kaz for winning the overall event.

Quejo has published his second report as Rollmaster. He puts so much work into listed all of the accomplishments of everyone in the Clan you should definitely check it out to see what other members are up to.

Since Q's last report though, our very own Raisline Taldrya Majere and Aravlis "Kaz" Raith have made the GMRG Guard roster for the second quarter of 2018. Also a shout out to Catmatui for also making Guard even though she isn't in Ektrosis.

Chapter 4 of the Caelus Chronicles has begun. This round includes a cypher to solve, a puzzle to assemble and a solo multi-objective fiction prompt.

Mark's Dozen of Games II is in full force. I personally stayed up way too late last night playing the current offering, Free Kick. The current round ends on 7/14.

Kaz has a graphics comp running: GPRHX: Vigilantism. Here's a chance to be Edna Mode and design a super-suit for your character. Ends on 7/18.

Raistline has an fiction competition set up with a cool prompt. For Operation Spark you get to tell the tale of a failed assassination attempt on old Sheevy himself aka Emperor Palpatine.

Don't forget about the Gatekeeper and Lorekeeper Challenges being hosted by our Rollmaster Quejo. Remember to subscribe so you get credit for all of the stuff you are already doing that counts towards these events.

Our fellow Taldryanite, Catmatui, is hosting a competition for the flash game Jezzballs. The name alone, and all of the fun double entendres is allows, is enough to convince me to give it a shot.

Support your House- and Clan-mates! I for one won't be letting other people win these competitions without putting up a fight.

DB News

Here's a few items of note from around the club since Rian's last report on June 30th:

If you are interested in the goings-on of other clans the Consuls of Plagueis and Naga Sadow have released reports.

Dracaryis has release Fist Report #20. Items of note are changes to the way cluster caps are calculated, the addition of Heroes of the Storm 1v1 PVP support, information on a Fortnite test and the likely removal of Destiny 1 support.

Social Media Tribune Maximus Alvinius has announced a selection of a Social Media Staff Member. James Malum of CSP was the chosen applicant.

SRI Update

The third Research Project for the Sphere of Research and Intelligence was extended one extra week and ended on July 7th. I am proud to announce that once again we have had an increase in participation over the last round. By my count we had 23 entries from 10 unique participants.

While this has turned into an event for all of Taldryan, House Ektrosis is still leading the charge. Seven of the ten participants were from House Ektrosis and 16 of the 23 submissions were from Ektrosis members. ALso, So, no non-Ektrosis members have won the fiction entry so SRI canon remains fully Ektrosis driven to date. Keep up the great work everyone!

I hope this means you are all enjoying this little system I have set up. However, I am always open to suggestions if you think of ways to improve upon the SRI events and/or the related systems. Feel free to comment below, shoot me an email or send me a direct message on Telegram.

With that said, I am happy to announce that the winning entry of the Research Project #3 fiction was the submission by Andrelious J. Mimosa-Inahj! The M-I crew remains undefeated in their dominance of the multi-objective fiction prompts through three Research Projects. Let's see if someone can dethrone them in the next event.

Read Me, I’m House Canon

TL;DR - The defection of Torin Morgath was a Collective ruse but thanks to the quick action of Andrelious we now have a high value, and still living, captive. This also means that the Collective has made it's way to the Caelus system, even if only in small numbers. Justinios remains the acting Supreme Director for now and has decided to make a unilateral decision on Morgath's fate.

The SRI Tracking Sheet has been updated to reflect the results of the Research Project #3. The moral standing of the organization has further deteriorated. The SRI is officially Moderately Unprincipled. As defined on the SRI Systems wiki page: Unprovoked attacks against enemy combatants are allowed and low levels of collateral damage to equipment or other property will be overlooked. The lives and well-being of non-combatants should still be protected but disregard for laws protecting personal property will be overlooked.

This means that within the bounds of the fiction prompts, the above actions will now be allowed and thus will be part of the positive moral standing prompt. The negative standing prompt will push your character further into questionable activities.

This project also saw the addition of an official military commander of SRI Forces, Sorqa Buuk. Sorqa is a brain child of Halcyon and you can read his submission in the competitions here. I also made the executive decision to make Kaz's entry, Helen Beck, the XO of the SRI battalion. Updating the wiki with this info is high on my to do list.

We also had a competition to pitch SRI Commander Buuk on how the newly founded SRI combat battalion should be filled. You can read the winning entry, rom Kaz, here. While this is a bit of a wish list due to the total cost cost, and having to acquire said funds from the Clan assets, this won't happen immediately. But as promised in the competition itself, I am going to do my best to fill out this battalion using Kaz's letter as a guide as the opportunities arise.

SRI Research Project #4

"Well you have lost me a very expensive bet," Torin Morgath said from her cell deep within the bowels of the new SRI Headquarters on Iosan. "I was convinced there was no way the vaunted Dark Jedi Brotherhood would let an tiny little Aleena into any kind of leadership position. Times must be indeed dire."

"Wait what, I am short?!" Ektrosis Queastor Justinios Drake said, dripping in sarcasm. "I have never noticed and nobody has ever made me aware of this fact before. Everything I know about the Univers is suddenly crashing down around me with this revelation! Let me get you out of this cell so you can share more life-altering facts like that the skies on Coruscant are blue or that sand is coarse."

The Collective cybernetics expert seemed unamused. "Are you done?"

"No my dear, the question is are you done?" A smirk crossed Justinios faced. "Done putting yourself at risk for this fools errand know as The Collective. Here's the deal, I really need to get out from under the day-to-day administration of our little organization. Simultaneously you, whether your know it or not, are fighting a losing battle. The Collective is never going to take down the Brotherhood. As soon as they attack in any kind of force again the Clans will set aside all of their infighting to knock your silly crusade back down before going back to squabbling again. You can find all the mindless zealots you are able to and stuff them full of machine parts. At the end they will still just end up as piles of bloody metallic shards at the end of the day. So you are going to sit in this cell until you realize I am giving you a chance to join the winning side."

Morgath was unfazed by the Aleena's monologue. "I assume you think that winning side is yours? Sad. Your people didn't even attempt to scan me for tracking devices. This facility does look like it has had some credits pumped into it recently, I assume after you forcibly took it from it's previous owner. it will make a nice base of operations for my fellow 'losers' to ruin Taldryan's plans here in the Caelus system."

In a flash, Justinios' tiny reptilian hands snatched up his comlink. "Commander Buuk, it seems the attack we anticipated will, in fact, be incoming. Proceed with coordinating our defenses as planned."

The Weequay transmit an "affirmative" over the communicator and severed the connection.

"You will learn what it means to cross your intellectual superiors before I am done with you. Hopefully this will happen around the time you finally accept this gift I am trying to give you," Justinios stated, once again addressing his captive. "It seems we did find your tracking devices and decided that keeping them intact would be a great way to draw some of your compatriots out of hiding. Don't expect a roommates anytime soon though. Your accommodations will remain private, I have no intentions of leaving any of them alive."

After taking a moment to soak in the disappointment that crossed Morgath's face like a wave, the blue-skinned Quaestor left the captive cybernetics expert to sit alone in her cell once more. Aedile Andrelious J. Mimosa-Inahj would already be with the SRI command staff as Justinios had delegated responsibility for overall planning to the much more experienced soldier and pilot. Justinios would check in on their progress but would focus his own efforts on sending personal messages to members House Ektrosis and Clan Taldryan. The Aleena didn't want to take any chances in defending the installation he himself took from remnants of Kagu Shi's organization by force, just as Morgath has guessed. He assumed that some of his fellow Taldryanites would answer the call to help the SRI hold onto their brand hew headquarters and research facility, which still contained the experimental Wampas Shi's own researchers had been working with. Whether it was for honor, or glory, or just the promise of violence Justinios hoped that at least a few of his other clan mates would answer his call.

Wrap Up

Overall I see our House and Clan coming alive. I am very excited and I hope that this trend continues into the Autumn. My long-term goal would be to see House Ektrosis lead the way in Taldryan placing, if not winning, the next Vendetta (whenever that happens). Although I am new to this unit I am well aware that we have a long and storied history. Along with that we have a group of members that are very highly skilled in multiple areas. There isn't any doubt in my mind that we have the skills within our ranks to help Taldryan return to it's winning. I see our members placing in club wide competitions these past few months on a regular basis. If we all keep up this pace, I know we can make some serious noise when the next major event comes around.

Regards,

Justinios Drake
