Notes from Blueberry

Welcome to April Galeres! Yeah yeah I know I’m late, I’m sorry. The last two months have been a whirlwind of activity both in the Brotherhood and in real life. In case you haven’t noticed, our Clan Event started on the 15th of last month. We’re finally wrapping up the Godkiller storyline and freeing Selen from these would be gods… and getting a little angey due to it. Part 2 has started and ends on the 12th.

Aaaannnddd I’m running a set of mini-comps this month around the most recent corps in our house– the Galeres Field Medic Corp. This is a contingent of Galeres focused solely on field surgery, triage, and first aid.

I did a survey regarding what you guys thought the identity of Galeres was, and also what you wanted to see more of out of the House. The answers ranged from “I’m not sure” to full detail explanations, but one thing was pretty apparent across the board… We don’t really have an identity.

See the results of the Survey below:

Sure Galeres is the military house, but that’s pretty much all we know about ourselves. That happens, we’ve had a lot of change in leadership. So what does this mean? Every time I do a weekly check in, I’m also going to highlight portions of the House– from mottos, to past important historical events, to current events. Members will be welcome to chime in and add their own flare to things and within reason it’ll be adapted.

Let me clarify that everything about Galeres will stay the same. We are still the militant house, we are still on Ft. Blindshot, and we have the same focus as before. I just want to highlight and better define that for those of us who are lost.

Fiction Update

“Oh, so that’s where it’s been.”

Sivall looked at her Neti Quaestor who was standing off to her side with a look of disbelief and confusion, eyes wide and mouth slightly agape, like she couldn’t believe the words out of his mouth. She then turned again to the Kessurian male in front of her desk.

“You found this where?”

“Cleaning a supply closet.”

“Under trash?”

“Disintegrated paper towels actually–”

“And you said this is what, again, Ood?”

The Neti crossed his arms in front of his bark laden chest, looking at the black and gold blade laid across Sivall’s glass desk. It shone under the bright lights recessed into the ceiling above the area.

“This is the Glory of Galeres, a… half status symbol, half weapon created some time ago. The blade is made from an alloy of metals from Selen and Eldar, and the crystals you see along the blade itself? They are neutralized remnants of the crystalline beasts that attacked this very fort a few years back. It was given to whoever proved their service to Arcona and Galeres.”

“So it’s an artifact?”

“Of sorts.”

“You would think someone would have taken enough care of the thing if it meant that much—” Severin started but was quickly silenced by Siv’s best impression of a Ruka Glare (patent pending).

“What was its name again?” the Chiss Aedile queried, looking up at the sentient tree that was her superior.

“The Glory of Galeres.”

“Sounds like an R-rated holofic—”

Another glare.

“Right. Shutting up.” The hybrid made a zip like motion across his lips, then pretended to silently whistle. Sivall dragged her sanguine eyes from him back to the blade on her desk. The question now was what to do with it. Should they honor the tradition? Should they create a new tradition for themselves? How would they even create an objective ruling on who would get the blade in the first place?

The Chiss Aedile sat in silence for a second before she perked up, snatching her datapad off of the glass surface to her right. She quickly pulled up a report on all of the activities across the House, her fingers deftly switching between windows and panels. Severin and Ood shared a confused glance and the Neti just shrugged his shoulders.

She knew exactly how to calculate who should have the sword, and she knew exactly who should hold it– even if it might cause some to shout favoritism.

“Gather everyone in the Courtyard.”

You can read more of the fiction here!

Tldr– We found the Glory of Galers again! It will be given out monthly to the person who places at the top of the leaderboard. And this month… it’s Bril! Read through the fiction to see the little ceremony we now hold for those who receive the blade– and the cool new non-official title given to Bril Teg Arga!

Recent Updates

Ohmygoshandgoats, a lot has happened since the last report. Lets sparknotes this ish.

  • Herald policies were clarified, art was spotlighted (COU spotlight with Techie and Gui!), Clan Stickers were introduced x
  • In case you somehow missed it ZUJI WAS CHOSEN AS OUR PROCONSUL! Sorry, I might have gotten a bit too excited. See the announcement here.
  • The Crafting System was launched! Climbing through the ranks grants you items that you can use to craft items, lightsabers, even Corvettes! x

  • DEMOCRACCCCCCCCYYYY– I mean what? Helldivers 2 was officially added as a supported game for CoE accrual.
  • The new seats for the Chamber of Justice were announced, setting our very own Ood Bnar as the Left Hand.
  • Voice policies were clarified following the clarification of the Herald Guidelines. Some new policies were codified, including that you no longer have to write that your character has no distinguishing features if they do not have any distinguishing features.
  • Sofila and Tali switched places! Sof is now the new QUA of HQD while Tali moved into Sof’s Aedile spot.
  • Wally released the tenth edition of his Exarch report, highlighting some interesting statistics about the roleplay system in the brotherhood now that the system and the Envoy sub-society have been live for a year.
  • A very important case involving using AI to write fiction was brought before the justice and the ruling was finalized and served. A friendly reminder that using AI to write a fiction falls under Plagiarism and Cheating under the Covenant.
  • The Emissary team is asking for feedback and questions for their first ever newsletter!
  • Exarch Report 11, Return of the Evil Dice Maiden brings us the results of the Exarch Survey. Wally talks important metrics with pretty diagrams and some awesome gifs.
  • That One Guy With A Beard (tm) opened Herald positions! Are you pretty decent at art, have a love for the Artist community, and want to help Mal out? Read more here.
  • Aiden Lee Deshara was named the most recent di Tenebrous Arconae, joining the other previous Consuls in having the honor of bearing the Clan name as a title. See the fiction and announcement here.
  • May the Forth will be starting again, so signups are live again for those who wish to be placed in groups.
  • The voice staff announced that the Lonto, another race of sentient plants, was added for playable characters.
  • Atra released a update on the plotlines currently ongoing with all of the clans in the brotherhood.
  • Turel let us know he is hiring for the Fist Staff, particularly, the Magistrate position. Apply now!

I think I got everything. February and early march were a pretty productive time for the Brotherhood. Spring fever or whatever.

Things to Do

We’re kind of in a period of high activity with the Multi-clan event but just in case you start to feel burnt out and need something non-Clan related to do, see some of our tailored suggestions below– Sponsored by Brilogna Soda, found at your nearest Shame Corner.

  • Siv decided too many people were trying to channel their inner Helldiver, decided to make a Field Medic Corps, and is now asking for your help in cementing the identity of the new Branch.
  • Test your art skills and maybe learn a few new tricks in this month’s GFX Sprint container.
  • The Envoy corps is sponsoring a comp where you can create small group rp sessions for possible placement and crescents!
  • A set of Dead-By-Daylight comps allowing you to gain clusters, crescents for killing innocents and being the big baddie.
  • The next month’s comp for coloring page creation has gone live! Submit lineart that fits the prompt and you could win a placement.
  • Anders literally made a comp that has everything in it. Want to get extra credit for some ACC matches? You got it. Fictions and GFX? Yep that too. Even cluster races!
