Headmaster Report #9

header

You win some...

The Great Jedi War is over and now I have to write a report! You've all seen the BIG NEWS. I just want to reiterate that I am grateful to Muz for trusting me to do this job, and I hope I continue to live up to a standard worthy of that trust (and the trust of whomever our next Grand Master is -- I guess that Esoteric/Tiamat thing didn't really work out, but apparently Pravus and Jac haven't executed me for treason yet. :p) Also, huge congratulations to Arcona, good luck to Wally in whatever comes next for him, and even more congratulations to everyone who's received a promotion or big shiny!

And now for something completely normal

On to Shadow Academy news! IRC Basics woke up this morning after a long and terrifying Windows XP nightmare. The course has been completely rewritten thanks to the ma'an with the pla'an, Tra'an (I'm sorry). The exam is brand new, as well. So if you would rather hit yourself in the head with a brick than take this (until now!) astoundingly out-of-date course, now is your chance! It's better, I promise. As always, let me and Ood and the PROF know if you spot any errors in the course notes or the exam.

I'm also thrilled to announce that you can now delete saved exams by going to My Exams and clicking "Delete"! Most people won't get a lot of use out of this feature, but it can be useful when changes are made to an exam on our end that mess up an in-progress exam for a member. Now if that happens, you can copy your completed answers into a word document, delete the bad exam, start a new one, and paste in your answers. All the thanks to James for this!

Finally, an update on our pending courses: with the kick ass new Alchemy Guide released, Macron is working on a total rewrite of the current Alchemy course. The revised Grammar Studies course is getting some finishing touches, and then we have several other courses in the pipeline that will get some attention soon.

Even more finally, changes are in the works for the Tactics and Combat degrees including the Gaming Sage. I'll make a news post when things are finalized with more information.

The Audit!

Audit work is progressing on both the Department of Writing Studies and the Department of Lore Studies.

Top Exam Takers!

Since my last report, the top five exam takers at the SA are:

Name # of Exams
PRT Artorias 52
GRD Dracaryis 44
PRT Kryy Vitaan 29
GRD Rulvak Qurroc 20
ACO Svere 20

Great work, everyone!

Conclusion

As always, I'd like to close this report by asking for your help. The SA is a massive wall of text that covers ever-shifting topics and is prone to typos and run-on sentences. If you spot substantive or grammatical problems, please let me, Ood, and the course PROF know so that we can fix them ASAP. As we work through the Departments during the audit, we're also going to be asking for help reading and editing -- if you have any particular expertise, let us know when we announce the next Department being audited. There are shiny things available. :P

Also, nice report and thanks for the updates!

Woohooo /me likes the delete button.

Second place...i need to get after it!

Drac; I don't think anyone could compete with his DO ALL THE TESTs thing.... it blows my mind how many he did in 3 days... 47 I think it was.

That guy...took 52 exams? For crying out loud.....

And that doesn't include retakes. :P

Which there were not many of, because he is awesome :P

I have a special folder for him cause SPAM

^Hardly any retakes, Just that one 90 I got, and a few irritating 97's >_>. I left the bad ones as a reminder of what happens when you do tests 4:30 AM in the morning. Now then, with my lack of sanity and or sleep clearly proven. It has been extremely fun. I do have occasional periods of lack of sleep, so I decided to be semi-productive for a change, and the Shadow Academy provided some pretty nice fun. Enjoyable game, will be wrapping up my last two savants and four mavens this week and or 2 plus days, then I'll be prettymuch finished except for the timed stuff, or Cof. Anywhose, thanks for the fun.

I genuinely appreciate the hard work the Professors, as well as Headmaster put into these courses, grading the work, and doing all of this. I genuinely do, its been a awesome blast, and I am genuinely honored to of played that game :).

Oh, the new courses are going to be so much fun, I just know it ;D.

The Shadow Academy rocks! Now everyone go read the cooler MAA report :-p

^Yes, yes it does.

Yeah, my clan leaders were...irritated when I smashed a bunch of courses over a four day period. Artorias, do CoJ II...you'll love it.

god the CoJ courses... such... "fun" :P

52 exams. I sure feel like a slacker now.

I remember days when there weren't 52 exams available for the taking. Jesus.

Ah the good old days when there only was one or two exams... :P

Thank god for that delete button. Goodbye Obelisk Core :p Maybe I'll come back to it some day :p

Would it be possible to add an exams not yet taken tab to the SA? For some of us that have taken lots of exams it can be hard to remember which ones we have finished over the years. It may just be me though that has this issue when selecting a new exam.

Taking exams. The ultimate hobby.

Addicting.

COJ courses are the reason I don't have a Dark Savant in leadership. :P
