Lagrange Point 2, Quermia
Quermian System, Nilgaard Sector

Secure, across the board, Secure. Vauzem forces had begun to retreat from the surface, and what ships hadn’t been captured or incapacitated rapidly fled the Quermia System. Cheers broke out across the bridge of The Sunrider, but a few faces remained solemn as they planned for what came next. A young Sephi Lieutenant Commander bearing the chains of royalty stepped up onto the deck beside the ship’s commander, saluting, before he began to speak.

“Admiral, do we give chase? The Firion has been tracking—” The Lieutenant Commander asked as he approached.

“No, Lieutenant Commander Anasaye, that won’t be necessary. We’ve faced heavy casualties against their droids, but they’ve suffered even heavier losses with significantly less manpower. We’ve crippled their infrastructure and captured the Droid Manufactories. Attempting to chase them blindly risks an ambush.” The Vice Admiral responded with a sigh as he turned on his heel and clapped the youth on the shoulder.

“Now our job is to get everyone home in one piece, burn or bury those who didn’t make it, and make ourselves ready for tomorrow when we face Empress Anasaye.” He paused for a moment, turning on his heel to face the other bridge officers. “Helm, take us over the Capitol bay. Commo, I want a line established with War Councilor Keibatsu, she’s in the city somewhere. Keep Sigma and Sapphire Squadrons on critical alert; I want them ready to scramble in three minutes. Kraken’s to maintain high alert; if another Vauzem flagship pops up, I want them able to engage as soon as Sigma and Sapphire break their fighters.

Can’t Be Erased:

In Orbit of Clyra, Kiast β
Kiast System, Nilgaard Sector
43 ABY

“REPORT!” A voice yelled as the shuddering vessel fell out of hyperspace on the fringes of the Kiast System.

“Drives are overheating, the engineers say we can’t make another jump until repairs are complete. We need a station or we’re going to burn up out here.” A voice called out in the dark as power on the bridge cut off, before red emergency lights flickered on.

“Tal Thanva, get me a map of the system, if you can manage not to screw that much up. If conditions are good, we can make for Burmessia and scarper before the Vatali dogs realize we’re in Kiast.” The man shouted into the gloom as he looked for the voice that had called to him just a moment before.

“Yes, Baron.” Tal’s defeated voice sounded across the bridge.

In the dim light, the young Sephi produced a dataslate and presented it to the Baron, pointing out their current location and their relative distance to the Burmessian Republic.

“We’re in luck, another month or two, we would have landed in the immediate vicinity of Solyiat. Currently, we’re only at risk of tripping the alarms from their sensor station, but we should be able to land and demand asylum before they deploy a Fleet to meet us.”

4 Days Later

The Prime Minister of the Burmessian Republic stood alongside a few members of his cabinet, eyes fixed on the Sephi Baron on the opposite side of a one-way mirror, shaking his head. His cabinet had warned him against accepting the asylum petition for these “radical separatists” that the Empress and her cohort had spent the last year fighting across Nilgaard, yet, there was always the chance of reciprocal rewards. Admittedly, casting off the Vatali for the favor of a disenfranchised group of outcasts wouldn’t do well for his re-election chances, either. A compromise, then.

The Sullustan strode into the Baron’s interrogation room and set down a bottled drink for the man.

“I won’t lie to you. I cannot accept your asylum request, Baron...” The Minister started.

“You double-crossing–”

“There are too many of you who committed atrocities directly, who fired on civilians, used medical vessels as warships, and more; however, I can accept your officers’ asylum requests, so long as you can personally vouch for their actions aboard your ship, throughout the entirety of the conflict.” The Sullustan continued, his fluid voice cutting through Uvam’s protestations.

“That means…”

“That means I’m giving you a lifeline, Baron, and anyone whose daily lives you can accurately account for can hold on with you. But you will be selling out everyone without an officer’s badge belonging to your ship. Think of it as a favor, for our mutual friend's sake.”

Through the Fire and Flames:

A year has passed since the Western March campaign first began, and we’ve been up and down throughout it. Some months have been all hands on deck, while others have been slow rolling. This kind of thing is normal in The Brotherhood, especially as we approach The Holidays and go through things like Finals for those of us still in some form of schooling (or raising children of our own). The Campaign had 47 Unique participants, 40 of whom are current members of Odan-Urr, meaning that over the last year we have had a participation rate of 62.5% (this number is haunting me lately). The Campaign has provided us with some insights into the kinds of things you lot invest yourselves in more and more, and we’ll take that information going forward into our next campaign.

One of my biggest issues has been keeping the Wiki for the event updated, which I’ll be working on better with the upcoming event (once I finally complete all the updates and story summary for this one on the Wiki) and keeping the map updated. Next Campaign, delegation! One of my biggest problems through this was feeding parts of the process off to other members, and this is something Jack and Vyr have really beaten into my head, “You have a staff, lean on them for help.” So I will. The mapping issue was a matter of either going back-and-forth to constantly update and verify data in a mapping program that (at the time) only one of us had access to, or the coloring method used, which also had its own drawbacks in tedium and time consumption. Next Campaign, that will be something that can be worked on by two members of our Summit and another Clan Member, who gave me access to the program when we were talking about map-making for our weekly Pathfinder game (Yes Nero, I’m signing you up for work again <3).

The other difficulty of the campaign was keeping track of the decisions people made throughout. Initially, the idea had been to go the route of “X competition for Y Group yields Z Results,” but we started seeing that many of you, earlier on and through the mid-field, were putting in participation across all of the containers to push back the Vauzem’s fields of control. To compensate for this, we’ll be adopting the same Form-based pledge system utilized in Seasons when it comes around to our next Campaign, with a variety of choices affecting the myriad of paths we’ve got cooked up for you!

So Long and Thanks For All the Fish:

Are we done on Quermia? Yes and no. Our narratives won’t be returning there directly after this event, at least not for some time. It is a Canon world, with the potential to end up utilized in some form of event that changes things drastically from what we’ve explored with it. While there is very little in the way of material for it currently explored, large-scale events like the one we just pulled off should be relatively limited and aim to wrap themselves up neatly, just in case there is something that wraps back around later in new material.

The Western Marches Campaign is not the end of our current stint there, however, while the bulk of the OUSC and Jedi Forces are withdrawing from the System, some forces and our humanitarian Corps are going to remain for a time. This will be reflected in an upcoming competition series focused entirely on restoring Quermia to what it was before our arrival, and building lasting diplomatic relations for the future. After all, it would be rude to use our neighbor's yard to play war and not clean up after ourselves!

In the Shadows

We’re almost halfway through Parabellum Cycle 2, there’s a lot going on this time around, and somehow The Brotherhood is being implicated in a series of criminal events. As we investigate the forces behind it all and attempt to make sense of it all, we’re being given the decision to try and recruit or eliminate the Quantum Shadows.

Second verse, same as the first, I wholly encourage each of you to Cast Your Pledge and jump in on the events of the Season to make them count; the competitions are easily digestible. You only need to complete one for your Pledge to count, and like last time there are more goodies for us to enjoy released to the Ascent Emporium, and the bounty for bonus credits is still active, meaning the Clan also gets a nice payout for your participation, with each phase of the season giving us payout based on overall participation. If we can keep our overall participation over 35% Odanites, we’ll reap additional payouts.

The Summit’s bounty stands as well! If the Clan meets the 35% Activity Ratio, for each Cycle we reach the goal, the House with the most activity for that period will have half of the bonus applied to their House Discretionary Funds. If you want your House to get a shiny new ship, more security guards, or you really want to pressure Tisto or Ji into getting you some droids? I suggest you help them get everyone on board with taking part in this cycle.

Promotions and Departures:

As you may have recently seen, Bale has resigned as our Herald and Bubba was looking for his replacement. That replacement was none other than our very own Vyr. We’ll miss having him all to ourselves, but the Club needs him so we have to share…for now. Take care of yourself, Vyr. I’ll keep a cold one ready for you.

This, of course, left us with a bit of a vacuum in Sunrider, but we had already been making plans for this. Not that long ago when Vyr stepped back up to Praetor to the Herald, Wolfe and I approached Ji to start getting prepared to step into the role serving as Aedile of Sunrider until it was time for the changeover to happen. Now that things have finished shaping up, Ji has been promoted to the position of Quaestor of Sunrider. May the Gods have mercy on his soul.

Scimitar of Lord Hoth:

May:

Boy, oh, boy. We got some new people in the Clan recently, and they have come in hot and heavy, dethroning the reigning champions. As you’ll remember, when last we left our intrepid adventurers, Turel and Edgar were in a fever pitch as to who would be on top. This month, Remalia, Esen, and Dot took top marks respectively. Will they keep this up going forward? Will this setback make the Tiger bare his claws again? Tune in next time to find out!

HELP WANTED:

Across the Brotherhood, there are almost always openings located somewhere. Whether it be the recent Herald position on the Council, or an Aedile position in a different house than your own. These opportunities come up fairly often and YOU could be the one they’re looking for! So, if you think you have what it takes (or even if you don’t, most people will teach you), go forth and apply, my darlings. With my blessing, do not be afraid to spread your wings.

  • Donny is looking for a Praetor, and applications will be taken until the 30th of June so if you think you can fulfill these duties go and apply!

  • Secondly(?), but certainly not least, Drac over in Vizsla is looking for a new Proconsul. If you feel up to the task, and up to trying to fill some fairly big shoes left by his last PCon, I encourage you to put this in serious consideration. Applications are open until the 15th so get them in as quickly as possible!

Fightin’ Round the World:

I’m gonna highlight a few comps running for the Brotherhood as a whole, some running for us as a Clan and even those running for Houses and Teams. So, let’s get cracking, shall we?

  • Parabellum Cycle 2 has been going for about a month. This is no time to take a break though! We still have two more months of this marathon and all of us have a part to play.

  • We have a lot of FIST comps going on right now, first on the list we have, Battlefront 2! Go grab a friend (or an enemy) and go play some BF2 with them from the PVE playlist!

  • Second FIST comp in the chamber is Ewok Hunt! Apparently this month we like Battlefront 2 but this time it’s 2017? Who knows! Grab a friend and go shoot cuddly little anklebiters!

  • Finally for the FIST comps, we have The Finals Countdown because song titles make the best comp titles apparently! Go play Cash Grab mode with some friends and submit all those lovely screenshots to the comp.

  • Xantros is at it again with his puzzles. This time the theme is Villains! Go do some quick participation and a chance for beating everyone in a time trial!

  • Our own little rabbit that runs the Templar Jensaarai is starting a new Training Regimen for her team. I think I might even try to get in on these :)

News Corner!

Everyone’s favorite section! The News!

This month has been a bit exciting in terms of news. To start with:

  • Bale resigned as Herald, and Vyr was appointed and everyone wondered what year it was. Howie is still Howie so there’s that.

  • The Emissary released the Arx Dispatch where Siv and Wolfe made pretty graphics telling us fancy things that happened in April and May.

  • Ood over in Taldryan give us a nice little report about the goings on over there.

  • Selika also gave us some really cool knowledge about Plagueis that is worth a reading.

  • Our plucky Combat Wombat dropped a report on us when no one was looking where Timeouts get a Timeout. Go read it and support your local Wombat Sanctuary.

  • Finally, the Star Chamber had a new appointment. When Bentre (go thank him for all the work he did for us) had finished his tenure as a temporary member, our very own Vyr was selected to replace him. Busy, busy Vyr. Go congratulate Vyr for this one as well if you get the chance.

Promotions and Awards!:

Everyone’s favorite part of a report. Where we touch on the promotions and awards for those members who managed to snag one or the other or both this month!

  • Esen scored a promotion to Equite 2, Esen also managed to find a Sapphire Blade off on some field of battle. Well done!

  • Dolot Varis, aka Dot, made their way through fire and flames to make JM4 which also gave Esen a Scroll of the Master

  • Ji scored a Sapphire Blade and hopefully won’t stab too many people with it.

  • Nikora also got a blue stabby and is probably gonna just start hucking them at people at this point. Do we know if they can be used in that way?

  • Ruur has made it to JM2 so far and also managed to snag an Anteian Cross! Well done indeed!

  • Catamir got a Dark Cross

  • Syrena Valkar, our resident pop star and aspiring mermaid, managed to get an Amethyst Kukri which we have been reminded is a slashy not a stabby by a certain resident weeb sword nut.

  • Benn Nevis has catered a few events with his food truck and scored a Grand Cross for his work.

  • Revak broke into Wulfram’s quarters and rifled through the cupboards, walking away with a Steel Cross. No investigation will be forthcoming. (Don’t worry Jack, I’ll just take it from your collection since you’re not investigating.)

Closing Thoughts from the PCON:

Random Gubbins:

This month has gone by quickly enough that I didn’t really have much time to have any real thoughts. Between the button comps and the fields of battle in DAoC, time has slipped right by me. I didn’t get as much as I wanted done for this part of Cycle 2, but I’m planning to buckle down and get more done this time around. I’m so proud of everyone who has managed to participate, managed to place, managed to get it done. Well done, my friends. Well done indeed.

Closing Thoughts from the CON:

Rock the House

It’s refreshing having wrapped up the first of our narrative campaigns. This last year has seen Odan-Urr grow continually in both our member count and levels of activity. From our newest members to returning faces pulling themselves out of the Rogues Gallery, Odan-Urr has once again become a thriving force in The Brotherhood, and I couldn’t be prouder to be part of the Summit of this wonderful bunch, much less serve as your Consul. We’ve got a few more surprises on the horizon, the next Campaign is in the works, wrap-up competitions to close out our story on Quermia, and of course, there’s everything going on with Parabellum! The Brotherhood and Odan-Urr both have a lot in store for the year ahead, and I look forward to being there with all of you, every step of the way.

Ever onwards, folks.

Great report and congrats to everyone

A great report. Nice to see youre all enjoying life.

Thank you for this, and for running the story until now. While my own activity has been limited due to outside events, I have enjoyed reading the updates and of how competitions have impacted how things have played out. It's the sort of thing I wish we'd seen more of a long time ago, and I'm sorry I've been unable to more effectively participate.

I'm working up a new menu to cater to a broader range of species. Adding some extra spicy dishes for the ones who like that (sadly my ulcer prevents me from indulging). The restaurant on the space station will be open soon. And never fear, Porg Fritters are still available!
