Introduction and News

Greetings, Satelites! The big news is that the Clan-wide Homecoming event has been graded and the winners announced. Congratulations to the following members on their Crescents:

Of course, congratulations are also in order for Arcia and Ed, who managed to take the top two slots overall. It looks like Mako and I owe our Hothan counterparts a couple of beers. We'll get our chance for revenge soon, though, as we're in the final stages of planning a House vs. House event. You should expect to see some hard details about that within the next week, so keep an eye out on e-mail and Telegram.

I'd also like to congratulate Major Len Iode for winning last month's Legends of Daleem competition, Out in the Dark. I'm suspending the comp this month for the tail end of Homecoming and the House vs. House event, but it'll be back in September.

There's also been a bunch of news on the Brotherhood level since my last report. To wit:

  • FIST-o-matic has come to Telegram, with a nice GUI interface that makes arranging and submitting matches easy and convenient. If you haven't tried it yet, please do!
  • There's a bunch of Wiki news as well. Our very own Korroth has the featured article this month, and Zirael's rising star Xolarin is the Wikipedian of the Month.
  • Our beloved Wombat Master released the new Disciplines for NFUs. It's been fun drinking up the envy of all you glowstickers.
  • Our Herald, the traitor esteemed Odanite Morgan Sorenn, has released a new Cluster of Graphite for art competitions. To kick things off, there are oodles of art comps running right now (see below).
  • PCON Pie is worth checking out as well, if only for the pictures.

Competitions

There are a whole boatload of DB-wide competitions running right now, and I encourage you to get them out of the way before the Awesome Inter-House Event consumes your life.

Arch’s Special Corner/Conclusion

We've got a few promotions and other awards coming out on the heels of the Homecoming event, and I hope that those of you who weren't quite eligible yet will take home something nice after the House event. Just as a reminder, participation is the main criterion for awards. I like Telegram activity and I'm happy to see it. I like Crescents and Clusters and I'm happy to see my people pop up in emails from the MAA. I absolutely adore seeing other people in the DB gush about how great my members are. However, just showing up is the most important factor when it comes to contributing to - and getting enjoyment out of - this club. If you have a bit of time to spare, please check the competitions page and see if there's something that catches your eye.
