Introduction

It’s been an interesting month to say the least. Summit instability continues but will hopefully be resolved soon. The new Dark Council continues to settle and resolve their changes of staff and the beginnings of their plans and goals. Our Consul worries are over for the time being. We await the appointment of Clan summit members and possible applications for any positions that summarily open up. We all try to balance our lives with this special place in the world where we get to play with our love of Star Wars. Now let’s get into the reason you all read these reports, your mandatory news relay.

News and Events

Our former Rollmaster, Arden Karn di Plagia has been appointed the new Consul of Clan Plagueis. Shortly after, we received Laren’s resignation from the position of Proconsul. As such, Arden has opened his first days as Consul with applications for both positions. I heard from a reliable source that applications are due when Arden wakes up tomorrow so if you’re working on an app, try and get it finished tonight. If you’re reading this on or after the 21st of April, you’ve missed the deadline. Just as well, this means that we should have both those positions filled and news on that any day now. A big congratulations to Arden (read his first report here) and a big thank you to Laren for all his hard work on this summit. Additionally, there are many positions that need capable people to fill them. If you’re looking for ways to advance and help add to the club, read through this month’s news for available positions.

• Regent Report #13 just came out today. Evant needs Magistrates, some content has been added, and other content is in the works. If you think you have what our Regent needs, send him and Halc an email.

• There’s a specialized Magistrate opening for the Deputy Grand Master’s office. This position seems to be for a type of forum/website ambassador type deal. If you think you can handle the job, drop an application.

• The GJW XII Epilogue has finally been released. Give it a read if you want to stay up to date on the fictional happenings of the Brotherhood.

• Our favorite Consul-turned Herald right now has released his first report as well as an update on the new Magistrate.

• News about the decks you’re allowed to use in Hearthstone have been released for the Brotherhood Gaming League. Read here for details.

• The new Social Media Tribune has been announced. Congratulations and good luck to Maximus Alvinius!

• The new Wiki Tribune’s released his first report in the position. Congratulations and good luck to Bentre Stahoes!

• In ACC news, the Combat Master has released his 15th report discussing the Scenario Hall in the ACC. His following update discusses it’s release and use.

I’d also just like to add that the intended competitions and possible projects for Clan lore development are still in the works. We hope to have everything done in a timely manner, but as we all know, RL stuff gets in the way quite often. Hopefully we on the summit will get things in order soon. Keep your eyes open for other reports from us throughout the month for more details.

Quaestor’s Words

So one of the things Arden mentioned in his first Consul report was the value of having a full and up-to-date wiki page. In essence, this means at least having some of your character developed. Before I get into this, let me just say that I’m not the best person to talk to for how to get a wiki page done. Mine is still missing a Character History, but it’s something the summit wants you to think about in the near future, so this is just a bit about things that help me to flesh out the details of Furios.

1. Define what you want from your character

For most, this is much easier said than done. I wanted a character that directly reflected my aspirations as a Sith so it was easy to make Furios. Others will have their own reasons, but all in all, the goal is simply to have fun writing their characters. This means you have to subjectively define what’s fun about having/writing your character and then deciding what your character needs in order to do that. Are you exploring an archetype? Is it just a placeholder for you in the club? Do you want to add something interesting for the Brotherhood story? For the Clan?

2. Connect the dots in your setting

Once you know the character you want, generate a backstory that turns into that character. Explore the setting the club is using and bring your character from there to here. Add in the appropriate events in the appropriate places and assemble the story that led your character to the Brotherhood and to who he/she is.

3. Write about your character

If you’re having trouble pinpointing what makes your character who it is, the best way to figure it out is to write stories of your characters doing things. That way you can make the connections as you go along in this club to the character you want in it. In other words, do the writing comps and participate in the soon-to-be up and running return of the Clan Run-On. Arden was talking about getting that in place soon.

Furios’ Fantastic Feature

This month I’m going to use my Feature bit to shamelessly plug my two competitions I’m running. One is a graphics competition, in which you just draw an animal for Star Wars. The other is a short, themed fiction about a prank your character pulled for April Fool’s Day. Both will be ending on the 25th (that’s only 4 days away, but they have been running all month) and both still need more participants. On the up-side, there is currently less competition between you and a Crescent. On the down-side, the Crescents won’t be upgraded unless I get 10 entries. So without further adieu, I give you my competitions:

• Exozoological Discovery - Draw a Star Warsy animal.

• Pranks Galore - Write your character pranking someone in the DB (either another player character or NPC).

In Conclusion

Sometimes it’s hard to make time for a hobby, but I feel like it’s key to maintaining some sanity in this hectic world. Having one that you can do in a social environment online just helps you maintain two aspects of your life with one activity.
