House Qel-Droma Summit Report: If We Build It, Will They Come?

Introduction

A Message from the Quaestor

Hey everyone, we’ve had a busy month! New members, an event ended, another began, and we have a new PCON(more on that below)! When we have months like this it makes me realize how much I truly enjoy being your Quaestor and fellow Arconan. We are moving ahead with our efforts to bring the Dawn Conclave to justice(fiction below), and in order to facilitate more member ties to HQD’s overall story, we have come up with some ideas.

Lucine and I are deep in the midst of forging outlines for upcoming events and fiction, and we of course are always open to input from you guys. If there are things you’re interested in seeing happen, with fictions or competition, or events, let us know. Communication is key to the survival and growth of any unit. Qel-Droma continues to be a strong House for Arcona, but we can always improve.

There are going to be projects in the works here soon, so keep your eyes open and let us know if you are interested in assisting us with anything!

A Message from the Aedile

Hello, darlings, and welcome to another report! I wanted to start of by thanking those of you who participated in the Shadowport in Shambles. I also wanted to extend a special congratulations to Tali Sroka, Luka Zarkot and Mako Henymory for taking the top three spots in the event. We’re trying something a little bit different, in that those who placed in the top three will be presented with a choice that directly affects the storyline of the House, and Tali, Luka and Mako have earned the right to choose where we go from here.

Part of our reason for doing this is to encourage people to be engaged in the storyline. However, we are also doing it to encourage participation. While participation is important in GJWs and Vendettas, it is also important in day to day activity. It lets us and the DC know that you are engaged and interested.

Now, I love the social aspect of this club. Telegram is a great way to communicate with people, and I have made many friends using it as a medium. However, chatting on Telegram does not count as activity as far as the club is concerned. When writing a promotion recommendation, I can mention how friendly you are on TG, but it’s the number of comps you participate in and your overall activity that decides whether you get a shiny or a promotion.

So get out there and do the things! Most of the comps out there are not difficult or time consuming, and you could easily do them while trading puns in Arcona chat. Let us know that you are interested in the club and the activities that are available. And if you don’t like what’s out there, let us know so we can run something more suited to your taste. Alternatively, run a few comps yourself, and get the warm fuzzy feeling that accompanies contributing to the DJB!

House Fiction Update

The warehouse was largely deserted, most of its workers having gone home for the evening. Most of the illumi-panels had been dimmed, casting the cavernous room in gloomy shadows. In the back corner of the room, a few of the crates and cartons had been pushed aside to make room for a a table, ostensibly used by the workers while they were on break. It was here that five shadowy figures gathered, the glow of datapads and mini-holoprojectors illuminating their faces.

“I commend you all on your hard work,” began Rhylance as he examined the screen of one particular datapad. “This intelligence shall be invaluable in the coming fight.”

“So it is to be a fight, then?” inquired Yumni Ha, a milky-grey Kaminoan who had been responsible for most of the intel in front of them. The faint blue light from the devices made her eyes appear to be even more luminescent than usual.

You can read the rest of the fiction here.

AskTheDeadlyDuo

  • Tali asks: Now that Or’val is (allegedly) rebuilt: What was you favorite comp(Either to run or as a concept)?

Rhylance: I love the NPC creation comps. I love creating NPC’s and as a leader for the house, I have the potential to make alot of them. I do prefer to allow our members to help with this, as I feel it helps foster the idea that this is our House fiction, not the Summit’s fiction.

  • Tali continues: What was your favorite entry/tidbit of the ones you’ve seen, in terms of flavor that it brought to our illicit Shadow Port?

Rhylance: I enjoyed the fiction comps and where they helped us take the next step in the Dawn Conclave story.

  • Tali lastly asks: How may we sue you for misleading us with the naming, as it seems the Shadow Port is still very much in shambles, and promises to be even more so in the near future…? When can we have some more?

Rhylance: Take it up with my secretary. Runs away

  • Techsketch asks: "Um, hi! Can either of you, uh... Well, would you be willing to do, like, uh... a ride-along, with me, on my speeder? It's just this mandatory thing, getting a superior to vouch for me, for part of the, well, I guess the approval stuff I need to do to, you know, officially do this, um, taxi... thing. Yeah. Please? Eheh... My speeder's not a dangerously overclocked piece of retrofitted junkyard scrap, I swear. It's actually a... SAFELY... overclockedpieceofretrofittedjunkyardscrap... ... ...Any takers?"

Rhylance: As she is unable to be here to say no, I volunteer Lucine for this important task. She is always asking for more things to do around here.

  • Alaisy asks: Who’s old room will I be taking on the Phantom Complex? I read it’s a little cramped in there.

Rhylance: Fortunately we live in dangerous times. Several members have been lost to us, which for you means a well used bed is awaiting.

  • Skar requests: If I may ask for an appointment, my cybernetics have been acting up as of late. Which also raises another question, does the good doctor make house calls?

Rhylance: For a price I will gladly tune up your cybernetics. As for House call, I don’t mind coming into one's house to help then not suffer any more.

In Closing…

There are many avenues open for you to tread, make sure that you take the opportunities that are available. We as a House are strong, but we could be stronger yet. Your Summit is incredibly happy with the effort being put forth by Qel-Droma, we just need to make sure that we all put in that effort even when we don't have Vendetta's or GJW's going on. Have a great month everyone, until the next report!
