Introduction

Wouldn't you like to use more than words? (Perhaps)

Hello yes, this is Wally. In this report we’ll do some house-keeping, plug the plethora of events and activities available to you, and check in with where we’re at. I also wanted to shout out that you can now decouple your Dossier from your characters. What that means, as an example, is you’ll now see my Dossier as “Legend Wally” instead of Marick Tyris Arconae. Marick is still slotted as my main character, but my name on the site now aligns to me personally and my Dossier handle.

Welcome Back

I’d like to first start off with welcoming back Ben (Aiden, Eleceos, Rhylance, and more) after his stint as Headmaster, and Lan, who returns to us after a 12 or so year absence. Lastly, Orion (Sera) has also transferred back in and has elected to come back to their roots on the Voidbreaker! Welcome back to Socks (Socorra, Xee) as well, even though her transfer request missed my email filter.

We’re excited to have all of you back in the Clan and House!

Thank You For Your Service

I’d also like to thank Raiju for his time in Arcona and for helping as Aedile of House-Qel Droma. His work, presence, and outreach was appreciated and we wish him the best of luck in his new endeavor as Proconsul of our friends at Clan Vizsla.

First Time, Long Time?

If this is your first time reading a House Qel-Droma report, or if you’re a veteran member returning home, I wanted to share a reference document we created to help those who find the Wiki or our long history of lore overwhelming. The Hitchhiker's Guide to Arcona has multiple tabs on our organizational structure, who’s who, but we also have a dedicated tab for House Qel-Droma. It should cover the basic overview of the house, our fictional location in the DB’s sandbox, and some common terminology.

Aedile Applications

I am formally opening applications for the now open House Qel-Droma Aedile position.

I will start by saying: I don’t care if you’re new, or don't’ know what you’re doing. This is a learning-based position, and there will be no pressure or expectations beyond the ones you set for yourself and that we agree on together. So there is no minimum rank, time in the Brotherhood, or experience threshold you need to clear. If you’re interested in the job and want to learn/do it: apply. Even if we do not pick your application, it expresses interest and shows us that you’re eager and/or willing to get involved.

What We’re Looking For

• An eagerness to learn the administrative functions of a House Summit.
• Assist with writing and formatting of Monthly Clan Report.
• Assist with periodic award sweeps for member recognition.
• Lead by example by participating in House, Clan, and club-wide competitions.
• Form 1:1 connections with members of the House to get a pulse for what they want to see or need from leadership.
• Help clean up the House Wiki, and an open-mindedness to interact with the Wiki.
• Help create or update House assets like NPCs, locations, etc.
• (Optional) Author or co-author House fiction updates and guide narrative storyline direction.

What We Offer

• I have 15 years of leadership in the Brotherhood and will share every ounce of insight, knowledge, and experience with you that I can. You will learn by doing, and anything I ask you to do is not something I wouldn’t/haven’t already done so myself.
• Mune has been here even longer than me, and is also the Brotherhood’s Praetor to the MAA. They are well versed in award and promotion writing and can share their insight and help improve your recommendation writing. I know they still help me to this day!
• Be a part of the fictional narrative and decision making for the House, with input into the larger Clan storyline and operations.
• Learn how to format, write, and publish reports.

How to Apply

DB Wide Updates

This will be more of a summary than a perfect list of everything happening around the club.

• Kamjin explains the Brotherhood’s stance on AI usage and what to do look out for
• Idris explains the new changes to the Slotted Character Sheet system. - In short, your “NPCs”, which are really more of your alternative, second, third, or fourth characters now have more flexibility with where you have them slotted or active. You also have an additional fifth slot!
• Vyr talks about art and stuff.
• Arch is back as HM, and worse than I am at staying retired.
• Thran explains the new tagging and search features for Possessions.
• Parabellum, Cycle 2, Phase II competitions are live. Do the things.
• Latest Macro Fiction Plot update dropped

Recognition

This section will cover the shout outs and recognition for members of the House, highlighting metrics but also things that might not be tracked on the site.

Competitions

Usually we’d use this section to highlight competitions that are running that we think you should check out. You can always do this yourself by going to the Competitions tab on the main website, but we’ll highlight some of the bigger ones below.

Remember, doing even just 1 single event, like the button push, is a huge contribution to the clan’s performance. At the end of the season, we have a chance to get extra credit payouts if we do well, which means more shiny things for us to buy!

Seasons, Cycle 2, Phase II

For anyone new or returning, Seasons are the new month-over-month competition container that is run at the club-level. This means you’re competing against members of other Clans, not just inside of Arcona. There are some cool perks and awards to taking part in these- and the threshold usually is just 1 competition. You can help out the team more, of course, by doing whatever comps you can, especially if you focus/target the bin system, like I explained above.

The Veins of Power: Episode I

We’ve got about 2 days left in the first installment of the new Clan Competition series! Remember that to complete a bin (which gets your more total credits/experience) you just need to do 1 of the competitions in a given bin. Once you do one, you will see a checkmark appear indicating you completed the bin. If you want to do more you obviously can, but it’s a nice trick for those with a bit less time but still want to try and maximize their gains (without having to go to the gym or skip leg day!)

Ask Wally

Ben asks: What are your goals with being Quaestor of HQD, and what can we as members do to assist in those goals.

Great question. Not to sound cliche, but the best way you can help me is...by telling me what will help you! My goals have, and always will be, to make sure House Qel-Droma is a fun and safe space for any and all types of members. I want to make sure everyone feels included, and make sure everyone feels like they can be heard and seen, and not be afraid to share ideas they came up with.

What advice would you give new or returning members who are looking to transition into the house dynamic?

Let-other-people-have-a-chance™ at the Blind Key, which I think we’ll be due to reveal soon. But for everyone else not Ben, my advice is to be inquisitive and even if you don’t know anyone/new people are scary, just start with a “hello” and share your interests!

Which sword is best?

I will always maintain that a Lightsaber is hard to beat. Just in concept. If we’re talking about swords in real life, I’m always going to be partial to the hand-and-a-half hilt longsword. Because I will always be a Jon Snow stan.

If I want to run an RP, possibly with just House members, what steps would you like me to take?

If anyone at any time wants to run an RP- you should feel encouraged to do so. You do not need me—though of course I'm here to help, provide insight, ideas, help with worldbuilding, etc. If you want to do a meet up on Port Ol'val or The Folly for a Casino night? If you want to have the Voidbreaker dock at a traders market to try and gain a new ally...use the ship!

Sounds like a great idea. After talking with a few folks, it seems that a Voidbreaker social is in order, so we’ll set that up :)
