Things proceeded well.

Koth Rai’Hakk lounged in the private booth of the upper atmosphere club, orange drink in hand, as he considered the scenario. Clan Plagueis’ capitalist takeover of Hyperdyne Manufacturing was well underway. An hour prior he had spoken to the Dread Lord, taking other business back on the Anchorage, and informed him of the successful assassination of Lorainne Korn. House Karness Muur had proven stronger, though the warriors of Ajunta Pall had not disappointed. A young Protector named Calvo had proven himself worthy of Plagueis’ resources. Only Naomi Felian had been wounded in their not so subtle assault against Hyperdyne, but the Hunter would heal well enough.

A tingle shivered down Rai’s spine, a whisper in the Force, or a side effect of the potent toxin he was sipping.

Teek Amavia would slide into Korn’s upper executive position and gain a close eye to President Zexx, but Plagueis’ goal was not yet fully achieved. They had gained access to Hyperdyne’s computers and leaked enough information to form their own company, but the Dread Lord did not desire new ventures. He wanted…He demanded Hyperdyne.

While the true nature of Clan Plagueis was still unknown, President Zexx was wholly aware of outside forces with ill intent toward his leadership. The early assaults had seemed little more than another instance of corporate espionage; some rival manufacturing seeking trade secrets. The death of Korn would change that mindset into one of caution and safeguard. Zexx would be difficult to reach physically and even more hard headed than before toward the thought of simply selling his company.

Hyperdyne was like a child to Zexx, and Plagueis sought to ripe his child from his arms, dead or alive. In the name of the Dread Lord.

First, Rai needed a new in. Amavia was invaluable and ideally not expendable. He needed an asset who could gain access to Zexx in the most dire of circumstances. Second, he needed a distraction.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

Three quick chirps from his comlink drew his attention. The voice of Taranae Rhode emerged on his answer. The Rollmaster was overseeing things at Plagueis’ staging camp in Lethra City while Rai slipped away on his own business.

She spoke, "There has been a development."

"Zexx died?" Rai asked amusingly.

"No," she shook her head. Her body posture suggested alarm as she continued, "A small contingent of vessels appeared a few minutes ago. Their cause is currently unknown, but their sigil belongs to the Galactic Federation."

Rai sat up, his mind racing at the possibilities good and bad. A distraction had presented itself. Now he only needed to find the right pawn.

Some Words

Clan Plagueis is currently in the middle of a mini-vendetta, a house v house feud that seeks Plagueis seeking control over Hyperdyne Manufacturing. My report fiction is a snippet of the larger "Chapter Two Backstory" that will be released this weekend. The feud is a three week, two phase event designed to boost activity, try out a new points system, and generally get everyone in the mood as we push forward with the final Fading Light events and prepare for the Great Jedi War. This feud is a beginning step in jump starting the fictional development of Plagueis outside of the Crusading seen for the past year, so it is a fun experience with a lot to continue in the future. Check out relevant links below, and if you’re a Plagueis member do work son!

This feud is going to give us a lot of Wiki’ing to do, so we’ve put together a "Wiki Team" that is going to update current articles, write new ones (see Hyperdyne Manufacturing and Corvin Zexx), and all the glory that comes with the Wiki. Fun stuff.

Elsewhere, post-feud we will be putting together two training teams for the ACC and run-on writing, respectively. We have a handful of strong contestants in the middle rounds of the Fading Light tournament, but we’ve also had some hard losses. Sometimes, you get a tough opponent, but judges’ comments are often very useful and there’s a lot we can work on. Same with planning and executing a thought out and provoking run-on story. More to come on this.

In a World…

The Old Republic is currently in a weeklong Double XP mode, so grab those non-55 characters and get to leveling. I haven’t TOR’d in about three weeks as I’m currently job hunting, but I’m planning on starting an Agent healer soon so now seems like the perfect time.

Whilst frustrating myself with the impossible Nazi-level drop rates of the 4-LOM event on Star Wars: Assault Team (the internet agrees with me), I have been burning through The Sopranos on HBOGo. First time viewer and loving it. I’m currently on the last few episodes of season four. I also recently discovered the RadioLab podcast and am listening to Game of Thrones: A Storm of Swords on audiobook (I read the novels after watching the relevant seasons because I consider the show to be a great adaptation). So I’ve been getting a lot of mobsters, dragons, droids, and cool NPR lately.

Meanwhile, Rian Johnson is unofficially the director of Episode 8 and writer of Episode 9 and it looks like we’re closer and closer to Boba Fett and Han Solo being confirmed as two of the three spin-off films. Kevin Smith also visited Abrams set recently and cried at how awesome it is, but for context he also said the Episode 1 set was amazing so…
