New Orders

Before I launch into my report, I would like to direct you to Arcia Cortel's winning fiction entry for the last round of the Nighthawk open prompt - March, New Orders.

The only thing I need to say relative to this is Dajorra Intelligence Agency. Thank you to Arcia for another stellar entry, and to those of you who participated in the open prompt fiction!

General Updates

Welcome again to another instalment of the Galeres Aedile report! I’m still getting used to this Markdown stuff, so I can only apologise if the formatting is still a little off!

Just to reiterate something from my previous report:

One thing you should know is that whilst my reports will detail projects, developments, fictional tools and possible story arcs, it will not feature any award/promotion acknowledgements. This is a trend that will continue as Braecen and I continue working together to drive Galeres (and the clan) forward. He will highlight the good news; I will highlight forward progression. The only time this will change is if Braecen gets something shiny[...]

So, that’s where we stand in respect of report formats…

And guess what? Braecen’s earned himself a Seal of Loyalty for his dedication to the clan, the house, and to us - the members. Congratulations, Brae Brae! It is a huge achievement, and one that was absolutely deserved!

Braecen Kaeth Gets a Shiny

Braecen Kaeth has been a pillar of the Arconan community since returning a couple years ago. He has been instrumental in the continued success of the clan, and has played a very active role in establishing a forward plan which has shaped the Galeres of today. His dedication to ensuring that credit is given where it is due has been refreshing to me in my return. Such dedication to the clan, its members and the Brotherhood at large often goes unnoticed. I’m pleased to say that this time such dedication has been acknowledged.

Braecen is one of the clan’s heavy hitters (no fat jokes). Let’s all take a moment to congratulate him on his successes, on his award, and on everything he has done (and will yet do) for the clan.

Sins of the Past: Episode 1 - The Phantom Businessman

Sins of the Past is a very exciting new event which will see a number of Arcona’s old enemies returning to finish what they started. There will be a number of Arcona’s old foes, all of whom will be returning to finish what they started…

This first episode will see the return of Mr. Lorden.

There are a number of possible competitions within this particular event, all of which are listed below:

• SotP EP1: Run-On - Go Team Blind Drunk!
• SotP EP1: Cluster Race
• SotP EP1: Flash Game
• SotP EP1: Cryptography

This event has been a long time in the making, and it is only because of the hard work of my counterpart in House Qel-Droma - Terran Koul - that is has been possible. On behalf of Galeres’ summit and members, I would like to say thank you to him for his hard work and dedication.

It’s always really easy to link to Vic’s DB page, because his two-digit pin is very easy to remember (‘91) <-

It goes without saying that this was a massive undertaking. Terran has done a remarkable job in putting all of this together, all to give us something in which to participate, and also to give us a storyline to be excited about.

If you have a spare hour or two over the next few weeks, please take the time to compete in as many of these events as possible. The Flash Game Event wont take you long at all. And 500 words of fiction for the Fiction Competition is an hour’s work at most. I would be very disappointed if we let down Terran, the upper summit, and - worst of all - ourselves by not participating in these competitions. And, of course, my door is always open if you need a proof-reader, if you want to bounce ideas off me, or even if you want a little helping hand as to what you might be able to do. If you’re struggling, for the sake of all that is holy, catch em on TG or drop me an email and I will do everything in my power to help you!

We owe it to Terran, to Galeres, to Arcona, and to ourselves to participate in this event. I look forward to seeing your entries!

Article Improvement Drive - DJBWiki

Following from my previous report, I would like to highlight the pertinence and the importance of Arcona’s Article Improvement Drive. This is something that is still at the very top of our list in the summit. Yes, it will take some time. Yes, a lot of effort will need to go into it. But it will be worth that ten-fold once the hard work is complete.

One article which has already benefitted from this is the House Galeres DJBWiki page. This was spearheaded by our very own Braecen Kaeth, but Tamashi Bloodfyre did all of the legwork to ensure that this page was up to date and relevant. A big thank you to Tamashi for his efforts!

I put out a call for volunteers in my last report, and a couple of you were kind enough to put your names forward to help us out.

Rins’zler, Tamashi, Ood, and Arcia - thank you. Your willingness to step up to the plate and assist in something which will become so instrumental in Arcona’s information repository moving forward is extremely inspiring. We thank you for your commitment and your time…

We do, however, need more people to help us achieve our goal of ONE completed article per week. Those of you who help will and receive the recognition and reward that you so rightly deserve. And that does not mean “we’ll throw you a Dark Cross.” We are much more committed to ensuring that members get the most out of their time here.

We aren’t giving out Cythraul, but if that’s what you’re thinking then you’re on the right lines… Chip in, work hard, contribute to the team and you’ll receive a lot more than a token gesture. That’s a promise.

How do we register our interest? - go to the following registration form and enter your details! It’s as simple as that. The summit will collate the information, group individuals together under any volunteer leaders, and we will begin distributing work accordingly.

Please also be advised that this is NOT restricted to Galeres members; QEL-DROMANS, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ALSO SIGN UP HERE.

Sign-ups will close at 2359 on Sunday 24th April (EST). Please get your interest registered before then so that we can start allocating roles, responsibilities and work shortly thereafter!
