A Message from the Quaestor

Hallo my lektastic Qel-Dromites!

Thank you all for your contributions to our Wiki-comps, the prisons of Tenixir and getting second place against our esteemed rivals at Galeres in our little training combat RP! As we shift our attention from the pre-war to the actual War that continues to loom in the nebulous horizon, I would like to take this moment to remind you that what is coming will require all hands on deck. As such, now is a good time to give yourself a breather and as much slack as you want.

The world may have conspired to seal us within four walls and staring at computer screens even more so than usual, but do remember to take care of yourselves. I for one have taken up some light gardening on an allotment and do semi-regular walks around the nearby woods to get a little breather. I highly encourage you all to take these coming weeks to recharge, refresh, and work on other things, because come War-time, I want you all beside me to defend our title of First Clan.

A Message from the Aedile

Hi there!

Welcome to another monthly report from our fantastic House!

How have you been this past month? I would say busy, in a very proud way.

I want to thank you all for participating on the Reconstruction comp part II. All your entries will give us more details, locations and people to populate our ever lively port which is exactly what we love! If you haven’t already, be sure to check the new and updated Port Ol’Val page! Some of your entries have already been added there!

Also, May the 4th is coming! Our very special holiday! So here’s an Uncle Aru joke for you: Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi walk into a Chinese restaurant. Ten minutes into the meal, Luke still can’t figure out the chopsticks, dropping food everywhere. Obi-Wan finally snaps: “Use the forks, Luke.”

War is coming and we need to prepare. By prepare I mean rest so that we are 100% when it hits us. So, go to sleep! Dream of Princess A-Aru the yoyo.

House Fiction Update

It did not look good. No matter how grainy and distorted the holopics from the Selenian repair yards were, they could not obfuscate the fact that the Voidbreaker had been shot up something fierce. How it had managed to survive a catastrophic re-entry after being ambushed by a Dawn Conclave warship was beyond her, though there was something endearing about the way the old warhorse had refused to yield even when mortally wounded. With a phantom sting in her belly, Tali Sroka could certainly respect that quality.

The door opened with a hiss of pneumatics. She hadn’t left it unlocked. That could only mean one thing…

“Hello, darling,” Lucine Vasano greeted her, a slight smile on her red lips. The Consul was wearing a tastefully cut emerald-black dress that shifted in color with every motion she made. Dressed down, as she would have put it.

“Vhat can I do for you, Lucine?” Tali inquired, making no motion to rise up from her seat behind the work desk, her golden eyes nailed to the emerald greens of the red-haired Human.

“Oh please,” Lucine sighed dismissively, “Can I not drop by unannounced just once without you immediately thinking I want something from you?”

The Twi’lek did not deign the question worthy a response.

“I heard you have recently suffered some casualties,” Lucine continued anew as she paced over to the cluster of couches and sat down on the supple leather. She leaned back with a muted murmur of approval, draping her alabaster arms over the dark brown backrest and looking over to the Quaestor who remained behind her small fort of admin.

Tali’s lips pressed into a line. “Ve vere ambushedt. The Dawn Conclave—”

“—Have been eliminated and driven out of Ol’val, last I heard,” Lucine interrupted, searching with her gaze for the obligatory drinks cabinet that surely was part of any Arconan official’s quarters.

“Ve thought so too, but—”

“There is always a but, isn’t there?”

Wow! This month has been great for Crescents! Sulith gets the first spot with an amazing 27 points. Following very closely with 25 points, we have Alaisy! And on the third spot, we have none other than our esteemed Quaestor, Tali Sroka with 16 points! I come next with 9 points, followed by Klyn with 6 points and last but not least, Magik with 4 points!     • Aru: “I enjoy being able to work for the House and for you! As to Tali, what’s there not to like? I mean, she’s purple… She’s a Twi’lek… She’s smaller than me… Did I mention she’s a Twi’lek?”
  • How does Tali feel about Aru?
    • Tali: “He has taken to his duties vith gusto andt really helpedt me vith running this madt House. How I ever managedt vithout him is a mystery...”
  • How do they feel about a yacht replacing the Voidbreaker?
    • Tali: “I honestly vas not sure Karran vouldt have acceptedt. But on the up-side, I’m sure ve vill attract a little less hostile guns vhen visiting foreign ports.”
    • Aru: “The Voidbreaker will be missed, but its spirit lives on in a much more luxurious and better armed ship!”
  • Any big plans in the future (other than war)?
    • Tali: “Vell, ve thought the Dawn Conclave hadt been defeatedt, but apparently they are still at large, on other vorldts. So, if ve can vork out a deal vith Korii Shunzo, ve may be deploying to assist them in liberating their home andt stick it to the Conclave.”
    • Aru: “After the war, and after you have rested properly, we aim to develop our new ship a bit more. Make it more Qel-Droma!”

• Zujenia is concerned with Aru’s latest endeavors

  • Is Aru starting a list to defend Tali’s honor like Alaisy’s?
    • Aru: “Tali is my Quaestor. If her suitors prove unworthy in my eyes, I’ll surely talk to them.”
  • What does Tali feel about Aru randomly challenging people as he defends his Mistress' honor, like a distracted bulldog?
    • Tali: “It’s… a thing.”

• Abbey asks the Aedile a specific question.

  • Did I already ask what A-Aru's current opinion on Ruka is?
    • A-Aru: “It got me a very specific nickname, thank you very much. But if you really wanna know, you’re on the list!”

• Alaisy asks us stuff, gives us news and looks for the future:

  • What was this about a fight between my Apprentice and Mr. Garmis that I keep hearing about?
    • Tali: “Boys vill be boys, apparently.”
    • Aru: “The only thing I can say now is that if you take things to higher levels, I was the one who gave him the wound on his right leg.”
  • Tali, how is Aru holding up so far?
    • Tali: “Quite vell. I’ve hintedt that ve do have droids for caf-delivery duty, but he seems to enjoy that. sip”
  • Some of our Engineers need urgent rehydration.
    • Tali: “Aru, mindt fetching them some caf too?”
    • Aru: “I hope a bacta tank is enough to do the job… Not talking about the caf though, that comes later.”
  • Could one of you please send me a list of personnel ranked in importance? Asking for a friend.
    • Tali: “Qel-Droman personnel rosters may be accessedt by visiting the Administrative Offices on the Top Level of our HQ. Goodt luck!”
    • Aru: “If, on that list, Aru appears as the most important and Strong, Karran, Zig and Ruka as the least important, that list is more than correct and has been verified by me at least three times.”
  • Do not worry about any extra dubious folk hanging around on Ol'val, this might be the only place in the Galaxy where they can get their entertainment. At a certain club, underground. Spread the word, Sub Ol'val!
    • Tali: “I’dt be more vorriedt if ve hadt not-dubious folk on Ol’val...”
    • Aru: “I’m down for anything that boosts the local economy.”
  • How do you both feel about the rumor of lowly pirates forming their own Faction? Revenants they call themselves, so my sources say.
    • Tali: “Clearly, our shift away from piracy left an opening. Only vent to show how utterly Qel-Droma dominatedt that fieldt!”
    • Aru: “If I was the one leading them, I would have no problem with it. But I’m not, so they gotta go!”

• Strong felt inspired by Alaisy:

  • Tali, how do you feel about Aru and Strong brawling over women, apparently?
    • Tali: “I hope they both realize that most, if not all, of the women in Arcona are perfectly capable of defending their own honor...”
  • How's the renovations going? Need a big fellow to come around and help move furniture?
    • Tali: “I think ve have most of the stuff movedt in. Although some rooms are still awaiting designation. If ve have any new Journeymen vho needt a place to stay, they couldt maybe needt a handt?”
    • Aru: “Luckily for you, all the heavy lifting is over. No risk of pillars ‘accidentally’ falling on you. Cheers mate.”
  • Did my locale make the cut?
    • Tali: “...” Keep an eye on the Wiki for updates.
    • Aru: ‘Makes sure no Twi’Lek is around’ “I sure hope it does!”

• Karran is feeling competitive:

  • Tali, when are you gonna fight me? Aru, when are you gonna fight me?
    • Tali: “Ve can duel once the Var is over.”
    • Aru: “Name the place and time Horny boy!”

In Closing…

We wish to thank you all for your efforts and continued contributions to our shared little slice of fantasy. It has been a great joy to read all your submissions for our various development comps and to be surprised and amazed by the creativity on display!

We try to do our best to balance the competition loading, but sometimes we may get it wrong. In such cases, voicing your feelings is never wrong, and we would not want for any of you to consider these activities a demand on your time. We do encourage you to ‘do all the things’, but these are all still fun and games, so let us keep that in mind even in the coming War.
