Word from the Dark Council has strong undertones of a disturbance. The relative peace among the Brotherhood has come to an end. War is brewing, and the time of reckoning is upon us. The House must be prepared.

This report is a big one, but full of details that I hope you will all enjoy about the Disciples of Dakhan, as well as how the House will move forward in the implementation of this system and our role in the Great Jedi War.

But first, the news:

Major News

Clan

• Proconsul report out by Bentre. He also recently sent out a Competition Primer which is an excellent resource to get quickly oriented with chances for activity. Check your inboxes for more details.

• HMR Quaestor report out by Koji. The house’s BTL position is on a rotating cycle to train leaders in the clan. Darkhawk has resigned from his position as Nighthawks BTL after a year of hard work and good service. The position is open for applications. More details in the report.

• Disciples of Dakhan Report by Lilith. Check it out for details on activity for the past month.

Brotherhood

• Perhaps the most important news is the announcement of the dates for the Great Jedi War. The GJW will occur from October 13 to November 19, with a break in the middle. Now is the time to kick it into high gear.

• Also of interest is that Mandalorian has been accepted as an official Tradition for the DJB.

• The new CSP Consul position has gone to Elincia Rei.

• For his service as Consul of CSP, Adept Xen-Mordin Palpatine was awarded an Amethyst Kurki. Check out the details of the award here.

• There is no longer a separation between Tier 1 and Tier 2 games in the Brotherhood. All games are held to the same standards and consideration. Details here.

• The preface ACC competition to the GJW has finished, with the first three slots going to Kordath Bleu, Aurora “Aura” Ta’var and Lucine Vasano. Check out the Combat Master report for more details and a beautiful graphic.

• The Headmaster released a hefty report. Some good reading there, including the awarding of Scrolls of Foundation. CNS and HSD in particular were well represented by SoFs going to Sang, Reiyden, Bentre, and Marcus.

• His MAAjesty Howie put out a report, with some details specific to the GJW. Not that any of you will be transferring out, but all transfers will be banned starting October 6. Comp running will also be affected.

• For you gamers, the FIST has put out a good report detailing information on Destiny and HotS, including notes on FFA activity. Check out the report for more details.

• Numerous high level positions are open for applications including:

Merit Awards

Many of you are already aware that merit awards were recently delivered to your doorsteps. I want to take a moment to congratulation everyone who received the following merit awards:

I invite you all to read the award recommendation notes to get a sense of why each award was given. In short, excellent activity and leadership from all levels.

For those of you who did not receive a merit in this round, I want to clarify something. It is not that you did not perform meritoriously enough to be recommended for a reward, indeed, for some of you it was quite the opposite. However, with the GJW coming up, myself and the other members of the Summit felt it would be best to hold off on the recommendations and to see what the results of the GJW will be. This is an amazing opportunity to really show the Brotherhood at large just what you can do, and rather than throw good momentum a lower reward than what your activity is truly worth, we want it to compound. So, keep on keeping on, and show us just how much a punch CNS can pack in the War ahead.

Disciples of Dakhan

Here is the official announcement of the details for the Disciples of Dakhan, carrying the dream forward initiated by Aexod/Evelynn during his time as QUA. Shortly following this report there will be a wiki reference page put up to keep the details as a living document outside of this report. However, this is the initial framework for how the DoD is going to work.

Introduction

The Disciples of Dakhan is the elite battle team of House Shar Dakhan of Clan Naga Sadow. Only those who have proven themselves truly exceptional in skill, dedication and determination are granted the privilege of calling themselves a Disciple of Dakhan. Those who count themselves among the Disciples are the true bannermen and bannerwomen of Shar Dakhan, leading the charge in inter-clan and Brotherhood-wide events to defend the honor of the Clan and House.

Guidelines

• Induction and continued eligibility for membership in the Disciples of Dakhan requires 60 qualifier points
• Eligibility is assessed in 6 month cycles (December and June)
• Points are awarded as following (subject to change as necessary for balance):
  • HSD Contract completion - variable
  • Competitions:
    • Participation - 1 points
    • Competition 1st place - 3 points
    • Competition 2nd place - 2 points
    • Competition 3rd place - 1 points
  • Clusters
    • Cluster of Fire - 0.5 points
    • Cluster of Earth - 0.25 points
    • Cluster of Ice - 2 points
    • Cluster of Graphite - 2 points
  • ACC
    • Winning an ACC match - 2 points
    • Completing an ACC match - 1 points
  • Shadow Academy
    • Completing an SA course with 100% score - 1 points
    • Completing an SA degree - 2 points
  • Other Contributions
    • Report submission - 2 points
    • (Co)Organizing a Competition - 2 points
  • Points are cumulative for ACC and competition activities (e.g., winning an ACC match would be 3 total points plus however many Clusters of Ice)

Examples

A member would qualify for induction into the Disciples of Dakhan with the following accomplished in 6 months:

• Participation in 24 competitions (24 points)
• Three 1st placings (9 points)
• Two 2nd placing (4 points)
• Two 3rd placing (2 points)
• Twenty Clusters of Fire (10 points)
• Twenty Clusters of Earth (5 points)
• Three Clusters of Ice (6 points)

Alternatively:

• Twenty-one competitions (21 points)
• Winning 2 ACC matches (6 points)
• Eighteen Clusters of Fire (9 points)
• Twenty-four Clusters of Earth (6 points)
• Three Clusters of Ice (6 points)
• Four Clusters of Graphite (8 points)
• Two SA courses (2 points)
• One SA degree (2 points)

Or, for a Battle Team Leader or Aedile:

• Six report submissions (12 points)
• Fifteen competitions (15 points)
• One 1st placing (3 points)
• Two 2nd placings (4 points)
• Three 2-point HSD contracts (6 points)
• Twenty-five Clusters of Fire (12.5 points)
• Four competitions organized (8 points)

Contracts

Contracts are non-competition activities meant to provide an opportunity to hone a skill or contribute to the richness of your experience in the Brotherhood. These are capable of being completed on your own timeline with rewards for completion, as opposed to competitive success, which result in instantaneous rewards (points). These projects are of various sizes and importance.

For example:

• Update formatting on X wikipedia page - 1 point
• Create new NPC character page on wiki - 3 points
• Obtain a Maven degree - 3 points (bonus in addition to course/degree points)
• Produce a character fiction - 5 points
• Create a new section on your own wiki page for the most recent Clan event - 2 points

The contracts will be listed on a “Contract Board” to be included with each monthly Quaestor report, or during intermittent updates between reports.

Contracts will have different available numbers, to be claimed on a first-come-first-serve basis in some cases, or unlimited numbers in other cases. For example, creation of a section on your own wiki page will be unlimited, whereas updating the formatting on a single wiki page will be limited to 1 member.

Points Management

Members will self-report the completion of the contract by email to the QUA, AED and BTL (all copied on the same email), who will jointly manually update a shared spreadsheet to manage the number of points. Failure to copy all three responsible parties will result in ineligibility for completion of the contract.

Rewards

Currently, there are three rewards for eligible members of the Disciples of Dakhan:

• 1 - There will be a number of contracts which will only be available to existing members of the Disciples of Dakhan (i.e., not those working towards initial eligibility). This will give those members more options for completing the necessary activities to qualify for the team. This will make it easier to stay on the team, providing a reward for those who are active over time (versus those who become ineligible for a period).

The following two rewards are only guaranteeable while I, Aul Celsus, remain Quaestor. It is the prerogative of the successor to the position of Shar Dakhan Quaestor to continue, modify or replace these rewards:

• 2 - I, Aul Celsus, intend to order two custom art commissions every year. I intend to do this to further my own character history as well as contribute to the artistic history of the Clan/House. I will randomly select a member of the Disciples of Dakhan to be featured alongside myself in the custom commission.

  I will clarify here that I am not offering money to members for doing specific things, but rather that I want to feature active members alongside me and it will help me to whittle down who is active by choosing randomly from those who are active enough to maintain eligibility within the Disciples of Dakhan.

  I reserve the right to choose the artist, scale, style and content of the commission. Aspects of these factors will be discussed with the randomly selected member to keep character canon in-line.

• 3 - While I, Aul Celsus, remain QUA of Shar Dakhan I vow to maintain my own eligibility for the DoD and will only consider applications for the positions of AED and BTL by those who qualify as eligible for the DoD in the 6 months leading up to the application deadline. Those applicants who are not members of Shar Dakhan or Naga Sadow will have their activity for the 6 months leading up to the application deadline tabulated prior to consideration for the position. These requirements will be made explicitly clear in the application solicitation.

  The other side of this is that those who currently hold the offices of AED and BTL will be required to maintain their own eligibility for the DoD. A one month grace period will be granted for AED and BTL should eligibility requirements not be met in order to avoid excessive shifting in case of real-life circumstances and to provide a perk for maintaining a leadership position.

Additional Notes

As new members usually need some time to get up to speed, they will be afforded 10 points straight away when they join the House and get automatically added to the Disciples of Dakhan. However, they must maintain their eligibility to continue in the DoD, as every other member must, in order to be considered for the rewards.

Final Comments

All members of House Shar Dakhan will be treated with equal levels of respect and will be given equal opportunity to participate in all events of the House, Clan and Brotherhood.

Membership in the DoD grants specific rewards that are meant to provide incentive for members to boost activity and participation in activities of the Brotherhood. It is entirely possible to enjoy membership in the Brotherhood, Clan Naga Sadow and House Shar Dakhan without membership in the DoD, but without eligibility for the specific rewards listed above.

As you can see, there are currently only 3 members of HSD (and our Proconsul Bentre) who are eligible for admittance to the DoD as of this report. Keep in mind that we are only halfway through this eligibility period and many of the members in HSD are either very close or about halfway there (meaning, on track), including myself, Lilith, Locke, and Mactire. Even Sang isn’t yet eligible, but would be with just competing in 2 competitions.

Remember, the point here is that the DoD is a competitive team, and doing competitive things gets you on the team, and allows you to reap the rewards. Be competitive, participate (well) in competitions and gaming and getting on the DoD is very possible.

Placement on the team will be finalized on 1/1/2018.

Contract Board

The following contracts are open to all members of House Shar Dakhan. For the time being, these are minor contracts in order to simply get the system in place. Expect a more complete contract board after the Great Jedi War is over.

• Complete your Wiki page - 5 points - Unlimited availability
  This contract will require you to flesh out your wiki page to include sufficient details to participate effectively with others on group activities, such as Run-Ons. An example Wiki to strive for in terms of completeness is our very own Proconsul, Bentre. Complete this contract by emailing the QUA, AED and BTL a link to your wiki page. The minimum requirements for completing this contract are:

  • Early life (2 paragraphs)
  • Time within Brotherhood (5 paragraphs)
  • Personality features (1 paragraph)
  • If your wiki is already amazing, just make sure there are no incomplete sections.

• Participate in The Way, Part One - 5 points - Unlimited availability
  I am running this competition in order to help prepare Naga Sadow for the Great Jedi War ahead. This competition takes out one of the hardest parts of writing, coming up with an original idea, in order to help you focus on one of the most important parts of writing - description. This is crucial to gaining those delicious fiction points in Brotherhood competitions, and particularly the ACC. Complete this competition by sending an email to the QUA, AED and BTL informing of your submission. Competition details are found here:

Aedile’s Corner - Jurdan Krennel

Jurdan marched down the halls of the Shar Dakhan headquarters. He didn’t slow as he pushed his way by several Knights and sub – Knight Apprentices. He barreled his way straight into the office of the new Quaestor, Aul Celsus. Aul had heard the Aedile from a mile away with the pace he had been walking.

“Problems Jurdan?” he asked without any sense of surprise.

“I have word from Sang, the Great Jedi War is on!” he yelled without realizing it. “It is scheduled to start in just over a month. We need to get the troops ready, the Apprentices need to be trained, the Knights…”

Aul raised his hand to stop his Aedile mid-sentence. “Try to calm down my friend. This is an exciting time to be sure. We will be ready for the trials ahead.” Aul stated calmly like a cloud blowing in a soft breeze, the words flowing as he spoke. “Clan Naga Sadow has a proud heritage, one that we will not let go of in the face of our enemies. We will see this war to the end and we will see it as the victors!”

Well everyone as you can tell no report from me this month we are condensing the report to make things easier this month. I would like to say congratulations to all of the award recipients. All of you have worked hard over the past few months and have each earned the shinies that have been bestowed upon you. You guys and girls have made me proud with your hard work and dedication to Shar Dakhan.

I would like to thank Evelynn(Aexod) for having picked me as your Aedile all those months ago. While it was said to see him step down I feel we have picked up an even bigger asset in our new Quaestor Aul Celsus. We will work hard and we will see this Great Jedi War through to the end.

Closing Remarks from the Quaestor

This is it, folks. The Great Jedi War is upon us. It is now up to each and every one of you to show the rest of the Brotherhood just how fierce Naga Sadow can be, and to make the name Shar Dakhan a force to be reckoned with.

You’ve all proven yourself to be impressive members of the Brotherhood, but where I want to truly see us all excel is in our competitive spirit - most importantly in our success rate. This is what will make us the envy of every other Clan and House in the Brotherhood. This is why the DoD system is being put in place, and this is how we will come to shine.

I appreciate and respect each of you, now show me what you’re made of.
