Homecoming

Ryan Hawkins adjusted his cravat, its crisp white standing out against the crimson velveteen of his jacket. He had not forgotten his roots on Pelagon and how details of dress made everything. He looked every part the fop, the only indication of his Jedi nature being the lightsaber on his right hip in an ornate mount on his white belt, inlaid in silver with various geometric patterns reminiscent of the fencing diagrams of his school of fencing.

“I thought Jedi were rather more... austere.”

“Times change, my lady. We come from many places and many backgrounds. If one falls from grace over clothing, perhaps one has deeper issues with the Force than can be solved by sackcloth.”

“I see... well, master Jedi, you look rather comported for negotiation.”

“I will do my best, my lady. I am more renowned for swordsmanship than words, but a Jedi serves peace first and foremost.”

“How altruistic.” A'dartia snipped, clearly aware of the Jedi's ulterior motives.

Greetings, Jedi!

Homecoming is concluded! We had a good turnaround this time, and had several good submissions to each of the available competitions. As promised, a lot of them have been made canon and featured in the fiction and wiki. I’m still curating the entries to adhere to certain standards before making several others canon, but there is a chance that we will see some more entries from the event appear in the wiki and future events. I would like to thank all those who took the time to participate, as well as those who have earned crescents for their hard work. We went through and issued a number of medals, awards and promotions for participants in the event as a token of thanks to several of these members. Special mention to Ryan Hawkins for having his winning fiction featured in Homecoming’s conclusion!

Battle Formations

All hands on deck! Facing off in a contest of a mock invasion, Houses Satele Shan and Hoth face off against each other as each side shows off their training. Tensions are running thick as the two houses aim to prove their superior strength in a battle of tactics and training. With a space station as the prize, who will be the first to claim it?

I’m as excited to be participating in this event as anyone else in either Satele Shan or Hoth. Over the next few weeks, I aim to do as many competitions in the event as I can (I know I’m not in either unit, but participation is participation, right?) Of course, I’m certain that you guys can best me and Turel, so give it your best! There’s merit medals and an entire space station at stake, so lots of incentive to kick some butt (all in good fun. We’re all in the same Clan, after all!)

Homecoming

Welcome home. Thematically, Homecoming was set as a world-building event that allowed us to make several excellent entries canon. Ending with the unveiling of a new Arca Praxeum located at the summit of the O’rena mountains, the canon-influenced ending proved to be favourable to us. In all, most of the placing fiction entries managed to get the deed and about half of those wouldn’t have created tensions with Yalisti Keldra. Basing the result of the votes on the winning fiction (and characters on other winning entries,) the result would have either been in favour or against Odan-Urr in the votes.

How does this affect us in the long run? Odan-Urr now has citizen status in the Vatali Empire, no longer being treated as guests. We won’t have much pull in politics as with New Tython, but we’ll still be able to have some more interesting adventures on Kiast. In addition to this, we’re also peacekeepers of the Kiast System to ward off threats (like pirates!) that would endanger the Vatali Empire.

Results

The results are in! Congratulations to the winners, and thanks to all those who participated. It was a good showing, so I’m proud to see such a turnout for the event.

Brotherhood News

Possessions

Possessions has hit the stage, once again! After gathering some beta interest, Evant has started tasking certain members with the process of testing possessions and suggesting changes. Turel and I are in testing for the unit stores, which will be where we purchase assets for our army and fleet after the beta is ended. There’s still a lot to consider as we suggest new changes, but from what I have seen so far, Evant has done an excellent job with his team. I’m glad to assist, and have no doubts that we could soon see the long-awaited project roll out to the public.

Granted, there’s still work to be done! Evant has just made significant edits to ground troops in possessions—several with input from myself, Turel and Xen’mordin. Prices have been adjusted tremendously, so much so that a number of Clan assets now cost half of their original value and the wording has been changed on several such items. Seeing Evant able to adjust these values in real-time with our feedback has been astonishing to watch, and he has been very open to our ideas and suggestions that are pitched forward.

Fist-O-Matic

Mav might have killed IRC, but Fist-O-Matic is the last nail in the coffin. After significant testing, Fist-O-Matic has been linked to the site and can now process gaming scores without needing to log into IRC or submit them manually. James has done a great job at eliminating the need for us to remain on IRC, and creating a bot that is even easier to use than the IRC one. Sending a private message to @DJBFistBot will allow someone to queue up for games and submit scores in an automated process comprised of button clicks, instead of the usual “slash commands.” The entire interface is built like a well-made tutorial that eliminates all confusion from gaming—as it should be. It’s also designed to prevent most instances of cheating, which we cannot wait to use for events.

Dark Covenant Membership Review

The Dark Covenant’s latest revision is almost here! In fact, Jac has announced that the revised Dark Covenant is in the membership review stage. Those with an understanding of how such things function are encouraged to compare the old Covenant to the new Covenant to assist Jac in addressing potential flaws in the revised Dark Covenant. This affects everyone in the Brotherhood, being the centerfold of the Chamber of Justice that is responsible for member’s rights and transgressions against the rules outlined in the Dark Covenant. This is another reason that I suggest taking a look at the new Covenant to familiarize yourselves with the rules that keep this club a safe environment.

Shadow Academy

With the assistance of Shadow Academy staff, Farrin is working on cleaning up the existing courses in the Shadow Academy to better reflect canon. This is a huge undertaking that is much-needed to avoid extraneous references to non-canon material and thus, eliminate confusion that some exam-takers might have. Among the courses, lightsabers are getting an overhaul to better explain how they function according to canonical sources; not only will this educate us on how the trademark weapons of the Jedi function, but also how they can be written to ACC standards.

This was a rather content-heavy report. Originally, I was going to feature another upcoming event but decided against the distraction from Battle Formations. Props to Arcia and Mako for organizing Battle Formations without needing input from myself or Turel. We're looking forward to doing ALL the things.

TL;DR

  • Battle Formations is Live!
  • Homecoming is Concluded!
  • Possessions!

Awesome report Boss! So proud of the entire clan!

Great report.

Great report boss! I am looking forward to doing all the things for once instead of grading them. Props to both House summits on putting this event together.

I come here for the artwork, never disappointed. ;)

Congrats to the winners of homecoming
