Consul Corner

Hello Arcona!

Well… here we are.

For those who may not know me yet or only know me as the person running competitions, posting polls, or appearing in Discord at suspicious hours, I’m Nora Olen and I am incredibly honored (and still slightly surprised) to be writing my first report as Consul of Clan Arcona.

Some of you may already know me for a few important things:

  • Threatening people with scissors (purely motivational, I promise)
  • being permanently involved in whatever chaos of the Button.
  • attempting to do all of the things at once,
  • and yes… that one time I publicly stated that a concerning number of Dead by Daylight killers are hot.

I regret nothing. Mostly.

Jokes aside, I want to properly introduce myself.

I joined the Dark Jedi Brotherhood just over 4 years ago thanks to my partner, Alaris. My rock, my biggest supporter and now fiancee. Before joining, I was technically already experiencing the Brotherhood second hand, because I was the person Alaris would come to when they needed to vent, celebrate or passionately rant about whatever was happening in the DB that day. Eventually, after hearing so much about it, I came to the inevitable conclusion: if I was going to listen to all the stories, I might as well join and experience the chaos myself.

So shoutout to Alaris… I love you, and this is absolutely your fault.

What started as curiosity quickly turned into something much bigger. Over time, the Brotherhood became a community I deeply connected with, and I found myself wanting to contribute wherever I could… leadership roles, staff positions, competition organizer, participant, cheerleader, occasional chaos gremlin, each experience has shaped how I approach leadership today.

Outside of the Brotherhood, I work in Child and Youth Care specializing in mental health, supporting children and their families dealing with emotional, behavioural and social challenges. A large part of my professional life revolves around connection, encouragement and helping people find confidence and belonging- values that strongly influence how I lead here as well.

I also absolutely love theatre. Performing, singing, storytelling, being expressive… It's one of the places where I feel most at home. Theatre taught me something important: every production succeeds because of the ensemble. Not a single performer carries the entire show. Everyone contributes in their own way, whether they’re center stage or working quietly behind the scenes.

Honestly, that's how I see Arcona.

Every member matters. Every contribution matters. And when everyone feels like they have a place, the whole production comes alive.

Over the past few months serving as Proconsul, I’ve had the privilege of learning Arcona from the inside. I’ve worked alongside our leadership, interacted with many of you daily and gotten a clearer understanding of where we stand as a Clan.

And I want to be transparent.

Right now, Arcona is in a rebuilding phase.

We’ve recently welcomed a new member and a returning one, which is exciting, but overall engagement and activity levels are lower than what many of us remember, or what we know Arcona is capable of. This isn’t a failure and it isn’t something to feel discouraged about. Clans evolve. Communications ebb and flow. The important thing is recognizing our starting point so we can move forward together.

Many of you have already seen my first steps towards that goal through the monthly container competitions (DIA Contract) and smaller activities we’ve been running. These were never meant to be massive flagship events. They were intentional groundwork.

My philosophy is simple: activity becomes habit forming.

If members can log in and find something easy, welcoming and low pressure to participate in, they begin engaging more regularly. That consistency builds confidence. Confidence builds community. And the community builds momentum.

Before we aim for larger scale projects, major storylines or high intensity competitions, we need to rebuild the foundation: engagement, visibility and connection.

My focus as Consul will be centered on a few key ideas:

  • Rebuilding Engagement- creating consistent opportunities for members to participate without feeling overwhelmed.
  • Supporting Leadership- ensuring our Summit and House leaders feel supported rather than burned out, allowing them to grow alongside the Clan.
  • Recognition and Celebration- making sure the incredible work our members do is seen, acknowledged and rewarded properly.
  • Community First- encouraging conversation, collaboration and simply spending time together again. Activity isn’t just competitions, it’s people interacting and enjoying being here.

This won’t be an overnight transformation. Rebuilding takes patience, consistency and teamwork. My goal isn’t rapid change, but sustainable growth.

I believe deeply in Arcona’s potential. This Clan has history, talent, creativity and heart. My role as Consul is not to change what Arcona is, but to help create an environment where our members feel motivated to participate, supported in their interests and excited to log in.

You’ll continue to see me doing what I’ve always done: running competitions, posting polls, cheering people on, encouraging participation, and probably still appearing online at questionable hours.

Some things never change.

Thank you for trusting me with this responsibility. I am genuinely excited for what we can build together and I look forward to working with all of you as we begin this next chapter for Arcona.

Now… let's go do all the things.

Clan Arcona

First off, I want to take a moment to recognize and thank our previous Consul of Arcona, Bograt.

aq5ql4.jpg

During his time leading the Clan, Bog dedicated an incredible amount of time, energy and patience into supporting our members and guiding Arcona forward. I had the privilege of serving beside him as Proconsul, which meant I got a front row seat to the work, care and occasional “how do we fix this?” moments that come with running a Clan.

Bog trusted me a lot during my time as PCON, and I am genuinely grateful for that trust. It was an honor to work alongside him, bounce ideas back and forth, and help push Arcona forward together. I learned a great deal from the experience, including that leadership often involves equal parts planning, adaptability and mild chaos management.

Thank you, Bog, for everything you’ve done for Arcona. I wish you all the best in whatever comes next… and enjoy finally being able to relax without Consul notifications following you everywhere. You’ve absolutely earned it.

As we move into Arcona’s next chapter (no pressure, right?), I also want to take a moment to celebrate the people who are Arcona, our members.

Please join me in welcoming our newest member, Soryn Volkov to the Clan. We’re happy to have you here and hope you’ll jump in, explore, and make Arcona your home.

I’d also like to give a warm welcome back to returning member, Golden Envoy Abbey Atty Attiter Ann, di Tenebrous Arconae. Returning to the Brotherhood is a bit like coming back to a very nerdy family reunion. The chaos is familiar, the people are happy to see you, and somehow there are always more competitions than you remember.

Welcome (and welcome back)! I’m excited to see both of you around the Clan.

Events and Competitions

Alright friends, it’s time for events and competitions. Also known as “Nora gently reminding you that there are approximately a million ways to earn shinies right now.”

Below is a curated list of current competitions happening across the Brotherhood. These can all be found in the competitions tab, but consider this your friendly secondary reminder in case you haven’t wandered over there lately. Whether you’re here for gaming, graphics, writing, puzzles or collecting Clusters like a dragon hoarding treasure, there’s something for everyone.

  • A Very Tiger Spring PVE - Most Clusters submitted in PVE platforms win. (April 25th to May 03rd)
  • A Very Tiger Spring PVP - Most Clusters submitted in PVP platforms wins. (April 25th to May 03rd)
  • Taldryan Container Competition - Taldryan Summit creates 5 sub-competitions for the entire DJB. (April 10th to May 10th)
  • TIE Fighter Graphics Container - Vizsla’s CON creates 7 sub-competitions related to TIE fighter graphics for the entire DJB. (April 15th to May 15th)
  • Mushroom Wars 2 Gaming - Vizsla’s CON creates 9 sub-competitions related to the game Mushroom Wars 2 for the entire DJB. (April 15th to May 15th)
  • Gaming for Battlepass - Where Vizsla’s CON (again!?!?) creates 10 sub-competitions to help members get points for the Royal Guard Battlepass for the entire DJB. (April 15th to May 15th)
  • Puzzle Container - Where Vizsla’s CON (once again) creates 8 sub-competitions to do Puzzles for the entire DJB. (April 15th to May 15th)
  • Shadow Academy Decathlon - Where the Headmaster awards the top students for the quarter based on the highest number of Academy Credits (AC) for the entire DJB. (April 1st to June 30th)
  • Lorefest - Where the Voice creates monthly competitions for fictions based on prompts, ideas, etc. for the entire DJB. (April 7th to December 31st)
  • Gorefest - Where the Fist creates monthly competitions for a weekend of double Clusters. Highest number of Clusters wins. For the entire DJB (January 1st to December 31st)

And because we love exclusive perks almost as much as I love threatening people with scissors (Affectionately, of course), don’t forget we currently have an Arcona Only competition running.

It is just for Arcona members. Which means bonus bragging rights, bonus shinies and fewer excuses not to participate. I believe in you. Probably.

DIA Contracts April - Where the Summit creates 3 sub-competitions for Arcona members to participate in. (April 1st to April 30th)

Proconsul

With my transition into the Consul role, the Arcona Proconsul position is now vacant and applications are officially open.

What is a Proconsul? The Proconsul serves as second in command of the Clan, assisting with the administration of the Houses and assuming leadership responsibilities in the Consul’s absence. The role supports the Consul’s initiatives and acts as a liaison between the Summit, the membership and the Council.

Expectations

Here is a list of expectations of a Proconsul, as per the Wiki article.

  • To assist the Consul with anything he/she requires
  • To monitor the activity of Quaestors and Aediles to make sure Houses are running smoothly
  • To assist in expanding the fictional role of the Clan within the Brotherhood
  • To make note of leaders and members within the clan worthy of promotions or medals
  • To promote activity within the Clan, Houses and Brotherhood as a whole
  • To uphold any values or beliefs your clan stands for
  • To assist in the creation of competitions, vendettas and feuds between your Clan and others
  • To assist new members in becoming oriented with the Brotherhood and Clan, to further the development of new members through instruction and guidance, to provide a timely answer to any questions a new member may hold
  • To keep track of what you have learned during your tenure to pass onto your successor and help train them for the job

Application Requirements:

There is no minimum rank or required experience, however, prior leadership experience and familiarity with Arcona are strongly encouraged. Applications should describe their leadership style, how they would approach the responsibility of the roles and any goals or initiatives they would like to pursue. Please also include a brief introduction about yourself.

Although these courses are not required, it is highly recommended to familiarize yourself with the material if you have not done so already.

Final Thoughts

Stepping into the role of Consul is honestly a little surreal.

Arcona has a long history, incredible members, and a legacy built by people who cared deeply about this community. Being trusted to help guide the Clan forward is something I don’t take lightly, even if I cope with responsibility through humor, polls and occasional scissors based motivation.

What I want moving forward is simple: A Clan where people feel comfortable participating, supported in their interests, and excited to log in again.

You don’t need to be the loudest voice, the top gamer, the best writer, or the most decorated member to matter here. Arcona thrives when everyone contributes in their own way. Whether that's competing, creating, mentoring, storytelling, or just being present and helping make the community welcoming.

We’re rebuilding together, one step at a time. That means patience, encouragement and celebrating progress wherever we find it. And honestly? I’m really excited for what comes next.

Thank you for welcoming me, supporting me, and trusting me with this role. I’m incredibly proud to be a part of this Clan and even more excited to work alongside all of you.

My door (and Discord DMs) are always open. If you have ideas, feedback, questions or just want to talk about Star Wars, theatre, life or which fictional villains are objectively attractive, I’m always happy to chat.

Now go participate in something, cheer someone on, and remember:

We do all of the things here.

Until the next report, stay safe, stay hydrated, and stay chaotic (responsibly).
