The Escape

The teams started their evacuating process immediately, grabbing the wounded Rangers that could be moved. Those that were not attending to the wounded gathered vital equipment. The Rangers moved with a purpose, no doubt still amped up from the firefight. Commander Krill instructed four Rangers to reconnoiter the auxiliary tunnel at the back of the site.

“Sergeant, recon that tunnel, lets see how these clown shoes flanked us. I want eyes and ears wide open, full spectrum analysis, maintain communication and live feed to the gunships.” Krill instructed.

“Roger that Commander,” replied the Sergeant.

DarkHawk paused for a moment to watch the House members working in unison, their coordinated efforts completing the mission. Just then the Quaestor’s commlink squawked followed by a familiar voice.

“DarkHawk, this is Jurdan, I have Macron in Spectre Two. He sustained a couple good hits but is stable for the moment. He’s a tough old buzzard. He wants to speak.”

“Copy that, go ahead Spectre Two.”

“Give them Hell,” coughed the madman. “Kill all of them.”

Jurdan’s voice chimed back in. “That’s the spirit. The rest of the Rangers and myself are on the way back in….Copy.” “Copy Jurdan, double time it. I don’t know how much time we have so let's get these folks the hell out of here.”

“Copy that boss…”

Within minutes more Rangers flooded the cavern with medical supplies. The quick and efficient efforts of the Rangers were impressive to say the least. Battlefield medical has never been a pretty sight to say the least. It is raw in every aspect. Krill’s men were impressive tending to their wounded. Each Ranger had meticulously trained to treat their brethren. They were combat medics. They treated the wounded and began to extract them out to the gunships. The casualties would receive further treatment and surgeries they were returned to the fleet. Commander Krill began barking orders as soon as his reinforcements hit the dig site.

“Devil dogs! No time for lollygagging, stabilize and mobilize! Move your arses!” Krill barked.

Sanguinius Entar remained stoic as he stood over the burial site. The three remaining Sadows, Malik, Malisane and Jades, approached their Aedile without disturbing his thoughts.

“All this time our history laid in this desolate gravesite, forever lost,” the Aedile spoke in soft words. The four Sons of Sadow embraced those words and allowed them to flow through their consciousness. This was more than an artifact to the members of the House. I was heritage, which at that moment was everything.

Fellow Dakhanian’s, I come before you today with both excellent and disappointing news, so I will start with the Hard Knock News. Since October of last year, I had the distinct privilege of working side by side with my very own Master in House Shar Dakhan. One of my first big decisions as Quaestor was choosing an Aedile. After several applicants applied, one stood out and could not be ignored. So, for the last five months Augur Sanguinius Entar, A Son of Sadow, has been a sounding board, a MENTOR and most of all a friend. Having said all that, Master Sang has decided to step down as Aedile. We all know we have those moments in our lives and hard decisions have to be made. So it is with a heavy heart that I RESPECT his decision and accept his resignation as House Shar Dakhan’s Aedile. Master Sang, I have said it many times, as I am sure I will say it many more times…THANK YOU for everything you have done not only for the House, our Clan but for me as well, your Counsel is truly indicative to your character…..simply the BEST!

As he steps down, we, of course, have a position that needs to be filled, this leaves us short an Aedile. So this means, effective for a couple of weeks, that is from now until April 5th, we will be opening the floodgates for Aedile applications.

The duties of an Aedile, are in short, to be a left (or right) hand to the Quaestor in the administration of the House. You can expect to do things like:

Set a good example for House members through strong regular activity and a positive attitude in chat.

Maintain regular communication with members through email and Telegram.

Assist in evaluating and recommending members for promotion and merit awards.

Assist in planning, running, and promoting competitions for the House.

Assist in developing House lore and maintaining our wiki page(s).

You may also be called upon to serve as the acting Quaestor in the absence of the Quaestor. Now, some of you might be wondering things like:

What are we looking for in an Aedile?

What rank do I need to be to apply?

What sort of experience are you looking for in applicants?

Well, the qualifications are pretty simple. We are looking for members of Journeyman 3 or higher, who can keep in regular contact with the House Summit (24 hour turnabout) and who demonstrate a desire to enhance the enjoyment of the club for their members! This opportunity is not just restricted to members of Clan Naga Sadow, either. We will be taking applicants from all corners of the club. No leadership experience under your belt but a desire to give back? If you have the fire and gumption, you may be the very applicant we are looking for.

Other qualifications we desire (but do not strictly require) include:

12 hour email turnaround time

Telegram access (the better part of our team uses it)

Prior leadership experience (well, it can help. Emphasis on the do not strictly require here)

Basic knowledge with most or all DJB activity systems (SA, ACC, Gaming, etc.)

A demonstration that you know what it takes to have/create a fun time!

Well, folks, as you can see the close out fiction for Three Shades of Black, is up. I want to thank EVERYONE again who assisted with this, and I want to thank our resident Mad Alchemist Adept Macron for hooking up with me on this one. Much appreciate it, Sir! I hope you guys/gals enjoyed it, and I hope to be seeing them again, we may have unfinished business with them….
