header

Odanites,

April is already upon us and I’ve got a bunch of news to share with you all as well as the usual clan highlights. This month’s report will cover the ‘Kidnapped!’ competition results, provide a teaser for our next peacekeeping mission, community events spotlight, member spotlights, projects, and of course our usual club news. Lets go!

Kidnapped! - Results

Our very first peacekeeping event is officially in the books and graded. This minor event was a simple one but it carries with it a lot of significance, for it is the first step completed on our path forward. For a thousand generations, wherever Jedi and their allies went, their reputation preceded them as guardians of peace and justice. Much like those who came before us, Odan-Urr serves as peacekeepers, answering the cry for help wherever the Force takes us. With the Force by our side, our light will push back the darkness. We are on a quest to protect those who cannot protect themselves and this mission was the first of many.

That said, let’s review the story crawl for this mission we did on Felucia:

Kidnapped! A Quorahi village has gone missing. Every man, woman, and child vanished as if in an instant. Shock across the Vatali Empire as the news spreads across the system of the peaceful artisanal tribe’s Disappearance. Known for their intricate glasswork and their almost childlike good natures, outrage in the Vatali empire is practically universal. Meanwhile, a lonely call for help outside Kiast has been intercepted by SeNet. It simply reads “Help Quorahi. Slavers” along with coordinates to a slave outpost in the outer rim, specifically the planet Felucia. Intelligence has confirmed the involvement of local pirates, who are eager to rebuild their power, and has traced out a route to a Zygerrian Slaver’s outpost, where the missing village is held captive. For over a thousand generations, our spiritual forebears, the Jedi Knights, were the guardians of peace and justice. It is time to reclaim that mantle. Odan-Urr has volunteered to help, sending a team to rescue them in the hopes that the slaves can be found before they are sold and lost forever...

I said at the beginning that your entries would shape how the galaxy viewed Odan-Urr and how we moved forward. I am happy to say that some Odanites answered the call. Alas, here are the final numerical results along with some submission highlights I’d like to call out.

Saved!:

  • 1st place: Agate Gua’lara
  • 2nd place: Hakatsuki
  • 3rd place: Essik Lyccane
  • 4th place: Ruti Tar

This competition called for you to depict the moment Odan-Urr saved the day and left the rest up to your imagination. I’d like to highlight the first and second place entries below for your enjoyment.

2nd place entry by Hakatsuki:

Kidnapped!:

  • 1st place: Essik Lyccane and Celevon Erinos
  • 2nd place: Jon Silvon and Vez Hirundo
  • 3rd place: Gui Sol and Revak Kur

This was a cooperative fiction where a strike team of two Odanites was sent forth to Felucia to save our fellow citizens from being sold as slaves by our local pirates and their allies, the Zygerrian Slaver’s Guild. They braved an armed slavery post, some very dangerous plants, and feral Togruta to bring back our own. Let’s see how our teams fared. :)

  • Essik Lyccane & Celevon Erinos: This pair was successful in their mission through a mixture of partially failed guile, some serious ass kicking, and calling in the calvary. No credits involved and everyone was saved, both our own and those unlucky enough to join them. When those they saved get home, they will say an army of Odan-Urr came to save them. The Jedi are back, they have backup, and they just captured a lot of slavers. Of note, the detailed scenes for this fiction were excellent, one of which showed one our lost citizens losing something rather dear to him.

  • Jon Silvon & Vez Hirundo: This pair was successful in their mission by using guile, a metric ton of other people’s credits, some physical force, and when required some tier 1 bravery that usually gets you killed. After buying all our people back, they went back to save the others and with their skills and the lucky intervention of the Force they lived to tell the tale. When those they saved get home, they will say two Odanites saved us. The Jedi are back, even if the pair swears they aren’t.

  • Gui Sol & Revak Kur: This pair was sadly too late for a rescue mission as no one was alive by the time they got there. However, they did meet the sephi-version of gollum and discovered a mysterious vial that appears to have killed them all.

In closing and as promised, I will be taking these entries and incorporating them as best makes sense into a clan fiction. At this point, I would like to congratulate our first place winners Essik Lyccane/Celevon Erinos and Agate Gua’lara for their well earned victories. Congratulations! I also want to thank those who participated. Your entries will be most useful in crafting my post-Kidnapped fiction. I hope you had fun and keep your characters ready for the next one. It will be a trip!

Next Mission & Post Kidnapped! fiction

So what’s next for us? Well, the galaxy is still asking us for help so there will be another mission, another story crawl, and more lives on the line. Our efforts to free the kidnapped slaves will not go unnoticed. So we have yet another mission, taking yet another step in making the galaxy a better place to live. Get your gear ready because the journey has only begun.

Dates, give me dates man. For those of you that like to plan ahead, I am targeting the next mission to start no later than the end of this month. This gives us a small break but not too long of one. Stay tuned for our next peacekeeping event!

Lastly, each peacekeeping event will have a closing fiction to it. Each story needs a closing note and I’ll be using your entries to help inform that. Over the next few days I’ll be writing a closing clan fiction to reflect our efforts for Kidnapped and per Odan-Urr style it will contain characters who participated in this event. You may see me reaching out to you over this next week with character questions. Till then, a fiction for you all is in the works!

Community Events Spotlight

I wanted to put a spotlight on our regular weekly community events. For those new to it, we meet on weekends to hang out with each other and all are invited. We play video games, write roleplay, play Cards Against Humanity, and anything else we want to do. We even did trivia once. These are some of the best opportunities to hang out with each other and make new friends so I highly encourage you to join us in these events. They are very fun and at times even magical. Imagine a group of star wars fans finding each other over the internet and meeting all at the same time to do things together, even if it's only to share memes or have a conversation. Those are the moments you don’t forget. One time in TOR one of our party took forever to find pants for their character. That was a laugh. One time in Destiny 2, we came back to win an epic gambit match. Such a rush. And roleplay, well lets just say we forgot how to use the Force to unlock a door and tossed a padawan at a metal grate to let us out. Some other honorable mentions include cups of tea in space and way too many handcuffs for hide and seek.

For those that already are regular attendees, know that your summit both appreciates it and that your actions are vital to making this club an awesome place to be.

For those that don’t already attend, you should be receiving the regular emails and announcements in all our social media chats for our weekly community events. If you aren’t receiving them let me know and I’ll fix that. And if you just aren’t interested or don’t have the time right now, we’ll save you a cup of tea. Pop on by when you are ready.

Lastly, if there is a particular event you want to do or even host, please contact me. Hosters get special notes on their dossiers and it helps get you medals. ^^

Rebel Resist Puzzle Results

For the last six months I’ve been running a very long puzzle series consisting of many different themes. I covered rebels, pirates, jedi, new hope, empire strikes back, return of the jedi, and mandalorians. Each week’s puzzle gave you points with the crown going to the person who had the most at the end of 24 puzzles. That time has finally come. I’m proud to present to you all the results from the Rebel Resist Puzzle Marathon. Please congratulation the following on their top 10 placements and special congratulations to the the winner Kenath Zoron!

results

This was quite the feat. A total of 45 people participated in this competition series. That said, there is one other group of participants that deserves special recognition. This was a loooong competition series with many puzzles so dedication to the puzzles is more than warranted. Below is a list of those that participated in at least 20/24 puzzles with one person doing ** every single one of them**. To these individuals I tip my glass to your dedication and special sushi to the one person who did them all. Well done!!

Perfect Score:

  • Khryso Mallus 24/24

Mile High Club:

  • Agate Gua’lara 23/24
  • Ronovi Tavisaen 23/24
  • Stres'tron'garmis 23/24
  • Tahiri Tarentae 23/24
  • Ciara Tarentae 22/24
  • Rhylance 20/24
  • Ra'gnar 20/24
  • Kenath Zoron 20/24

Lastly, I thank all who participated but weren’t named for your activity. These may be simple puzzles but it's yet another way we can bond together. I hope you all had fun and I look forward to running another long DB event. :)

Group Writing Opportunities

Odan-Urr would love to get you involved in some group writing. If you are looking to get involved, we have several options for you.

  • Tython Castaway Runon: Battleteam Tython is hosting a group runon to find a peculiar piece of treasure, that of a lost ship that Kiast would very much like to have back. Join them in their quest to find this ship, Light Of Ki’asma, and if possible bring it back in one piece. But be warned, others are also going after it and they aren’t all nice.

  • Discord Roleplay: Our roleplay game has been pretty strong these last couple events and I’m glad to say these will be here to stay for the future. We’ve wrote a mission from Jedi Fallen Order, saved a Nabooian princess from a very grim fate, and chased down a rogue Jedi in a game of tag that involved way too much damage and handcuffs. The character interactions and unexpected character ships have been amusing and wonderful. It’s a lot of fun and I hope you join us for future ones. Just bring your imagination. For our most recent stuff we have an ongoing thread in #roleplay and we do all our out-of-character (OOC) arrangements in #fictionythings.

Tabletop Fiction Game with Characters [IN TALKS]

I’ve got a few people interested in this so this idea is still alive but I’m looking for someone with experience in this area to help bring the idea home. (I don’t have any experience in this at all) We have a rough idea that is 80% there so you won’t be starting from scratch. Passion for the idea and a willingness to learn is also very much accepted. Feel free to reach out to me if you want to help make this a reality. What we need to do:

  • Refine the rough draft we have so far to make it work better with our character sheets
  • Test it out in a community event

If you want to see this become a reality and lead it, feel free to reach out to me. I’ll be asking those who replied to me over the next week.

That’s all the projects for now. This list will change over time so if you want to get in on some project work just let one of your leaders know. My door is always open. We don’t have all the good ideas and you get cool shinies/promotions for helping out the clan!

AskAura

Sa Asks: “How can someone get into helping with projects and what kind of projects are open for help?”

Great first question. Every CON report I put out a list of projects but I think it would be beneficial if more summit reports did so as well as it makes sense. For those that want to help, you can either volunteer to help with an existing project or better yet make your own! If there is something that needs fixing and we aren’t doing it at the moment, it’s fair game but please involve your summit so that we can track all the awesome stuff you are doing. Projects give good rewards. ^^

Tarvitz Asks: “Do you have any suggestions on staying sane given the current pandemic?”

Take time each day to watch or read positive things like good news, funny videos, video games, chat with family, or whatever floats your boat. Mental breaks are important. And of course, Odan-Urr promises to provide you all with plenty to do. Competitions, projects, group gaming, group writing, a Cards Against Humanity hangout, or even a virtual hug. We are all in this together. :)

Personally, I highly suggest tofupupper for the doge smiles and motivational speeches. His wide questions are also adorable af.

Cawthren Asks: “What has been going on?”

Plenty to make it a firehose but your summit has put together some great documents to check up. We have a novice guide for COU lore, which is helpful even to veterans. We also have a trove of the Vatali Unsettled House fictions, which has all of the House story updates. In addition, feel free to ask you fellow clanmates. We are here to help each other out. Ohana.

That’s it for today’s report. We did good last mission and there is plenty of saving the galaxy to do moving forward. Remember to say hi to all the new joins we have been getting lately and as usual I highly encourage you all to join our community events. The time we spend with each other is important especially in the troubling times we find ourselves in. Remember that your clan is here for you and we’ll give you plenty of fun things to do. Stay safe and I hope I see you at our next event!
