Jedi Praxeum, Kiast α

Kiast System, Nilgaard Sector

43 ABY

It started with one assassination; why shouldn’t we have expected another?

Blood stained the courtyard of the Jedi Praxeum, a place which should have been safe for the Jedi, for any of the survivors of New Tython, and for any who threw their lot in with those who had come to be known as Clan Odan-Urr. A heavy military presence focused on the academy, the First Naval Fleet in orbit, and OUSC Marine Forces securing the outer perimeter with the aid of SeNet and the Guardians. Within the Council Chambers, an unexpected, and to some unwelcomed, face stood surrounded, holding the slain High Councilor’s ruby-capped cane.

“We’re divided. My friend was concerned about how we would move forward if what has come to pass were to happen…” She froze, igniting the sabers hidden within Masahiro’s cane, staring at the Council over the ignited orange plasma. “Until we bring a lasting peace to Kiast, the Temple will work with me to help realize that goal.”

Disabling the sabers, she turned as the doors opened behind her, her newly commissioned Councilor of War, a grizzled Mandalorian in battered royal azure beskar’gem, closed the distance.

“Ma’am. The Separatists and Burmessians have engaged in orbit of Clyra. Elements of the Fourth Fleet have made a demand for refit at Pharos Station, threatening to raid the station if their demands are not met. The Third Fleet is en route.”

Mihoshi stood on the communications pad she found in the High Councillor's office, idly wondering how long it had been covered in so much dust.

Within moments, she was joined by two other figures - Syrena Valkar, Governor of Kaal, and Asani Armis, Governor of Tythas. Then a third heavily armored figure joined the communication from the bridge of the ODN Sunrider.

"Syrena Valkar. Asani Armis. I am here bringing you grave news." The Kyataran's straightforward manner meant that there had never been much preamble to soften the blow of bad news. "Masahiro Haku, the High Councillor, is dead. I have assumed his place as our leader. The two of you are to be given assistance for your problems."

She gestured to the incandescent form of Syrena, the blue of the projector hiding the pink tones of the Zeltron heritage. "Several detachments of guards and Jedi from the Praxeum are being sent to assist you within the streets of Kaal."

Syrena bowed slightly, "Thank you, Warma- High Councillor."

Mihoshi turned to Asani. "The Third Regiment Marines are being sent to Tythas to help you restore order."

The lagomorph bowed and reached for her helmet to prepare for the work ahead of her. "Thank you, High Councillor."

The High Councillor nodded to each in turn. "Get your cities in order, ladies. If further intervention is required, the results will be...unpleasant."

Turning to the last figure, Miho scowled. "Wulfram Armis. As the reinstated Warmaster of Odan-Urr, you are ordered to continue your hunt for the separatists, whether Vauzem or OUSC-Turncoats."

The one-eyed Mandalorian nodded. Once up, once down. "As you like, madam Councillor."

Miho nodded, her souring mood slightly relieved.

She stepped off the holopad, and the figures disappeared from her office. Her. Office. Miho looked around at the office that still showed the signs of all those who had come before her. Things were going to change; things were coming to a head.

A figure sat in the corner, chuckled, and shook their head, long silver hair cascading gracefully over their shoulders as the situation unfolded before them.

"Dead?" They asked, raising a palm to the air as they pondered another question. "Someone managed to kill a High Councilor of the Acolytes of Urr, forcing the Temple to fall under Imperial Control?"

"Dead," Mihoshi responded flatly. "If those with the boldness to kill the High Councillor think they finished the job, they might try again."

Stepping forward into the light, revealing a blaster-scarred collarbone and the bacta patches on their chest beneath open robes, the deceased High Councilor, Masahiro Haku, smiled as though Mihoshi had finally done something interesting. "How deceptive. I didn't believe subterfuge in your wheelhouse, High Councilor."

"Shut up.”

Introduction (of sorts)

Another year is coming to a close, and once again, it has been both a pleasure and a privilege to serve this Clan and its members. For the last year or so, I've served as your Proconsul, and just recently I accepted the honor of being your next Consul.

For those of you who know me, ‘sup.

For those of you that don't, most people call me Jack. I've been around for a very, very long time and I've rode around the block a few times. So for you guys and girls as well, ‘sup.

Scimitar of Hoth:

The black magic spreadsheet still keeps working its charms and giving us the information we’ve requested. I’ll pester Wolfe to get the Year-to-Date sheet live later, but he’s got a lot going on this week, so aside from the pre-written side of his report and his touch-ups, I’m going to give him some time and make sure that next year we keep the year-to-date going with each month’s report.

Scimitar of Lord Hoth

Congratulations to Edgar, Seals, Syrena, Asani, and Corpzen.

News Corner:

There’s been a lot of news lately and we’re just gonna recap it all because I don’t remember what we talked about the last time we were here so here we go stepping right along!

PCONs Corner

The Beginning is the End is the Beginning

Hello again! I’m pretty sure most of you know me, if you don’t, where have you been for the last 2 years? I’m your new (old) PCON, your previous CON, and before that, I was your PCON! Somehow, I’ve also become the latest Praetor to the Headmaster. For the last few months, Jack’s pretty much been running the show for me as I’ve been dealing with health issues, recovering from things on the family front, and adjusting to my current state of being. I understood a few months ago that I needed to step back and focus on where I was good, and at the time, that was support.

While my recovery has finally kicked into gear, I’ve realized that I made the right choice stepping back as it has allowed Jack to blossom, and me to see new avenues and interests within the club.

Our new CON has been quick to work behind the scenes, having conversations with the rest of our leadership, working with me to establish a long-in-the-works plan to develop a COU Story-Team, and working out our plans and standards for the new year.

Wait, what’s that? A COU Story Team?

Yep. For the last two years, I’ve bounced around every 1-2 months as we began developing storylines and checked the pulse on storyline ideas from a rough group of 4-5 members, doing my best to cycle through members I saw being routinely active in submitting for Fiction and Roleplay activities, as well as a few out-of-Clan members who I knew would give me an unbiased viewpoint.

Now we’ve cut the team down to a dedicated 3, on top of our Summit Members. The idea is that we will have a rotating staff, either quarterly or biannually, with the focus on keeping our stories and narrative points grounded and member-forward.

What About the Campaign?

Oh, it’s still alive and active. Here’s the thing. It’s the busiest holiday period of the year, and we’re trying to respect your time. Whether you’re celebrating Hanukkah, Yule, Christmas, Lifeday, Boxing Day, Eggnog Day, or anything I haven’t mentioned, I know a lot of us are going to be travelling, seeing folks we haven’t seen in years, dealing with seasonal burnout, or just stressed. So while we’re still attempting to keep our House and Battleteam workloads going so you folks always have something to do, we’re letting off the throttle on the Campaign for the end-of-year observances, so you aren’t overwhelmed, feeling that you’ll be missing out on the story.

In the last week of the month, once things have calmed down, people are getting back home, or settled into the motions of wherever they’re staying for the holiday, there will be a couple of light-weight competitions on the board, just like we did for the last campaign’s Lifeday Armistice, just a bit lighter. We’ll pick back up in force come January with a major push on the narrative and some major new events.

What’s the Dog Wolfe Doin’?

Some of you are probably wondering what I’m doing since I’ve stepped back and let Jack take the helm. I gave a bit of info on it above, but, the long and short of it right now is ”Admin Work”. I had a lot of big and small projects I wanted to work on while I was Consul, several of which I didn’t feel like I could properly delegate, or know just how to hand down at the time, and with life kicking me in the teeth, I didn’t have the time to chase them. While life has given me a couple more struggles recently, things have started calming down over the last two months, so I’m beginning to tackle these things, as well as begin to work more with the Tiger to understand the intricacies of the Headmaster’s Office.

There are a couple of projects I hope to knock out in the short term:

  • An updated Novice Guide to COU (AKA - A Lore Primer for new and old members to catch up on current events)
  • Updating and Overhauling COU Wiki Articles (This is a project Tarvitz and I have spoken about a few times, and I’ve begun detailing a format of which articles we need to attack currently)
  • Campaign Format Guide (Making the Odan-Urr Campaigns easier to digest and replicate)

Signing off,

Mihoshi Keibatsu, High Councillor of Odan-Urr

(Note to self: Make a signature. Maybe learn how to put gifs in here like everyone else. Work work work.)

An excellent report!

Inserting GIFs is the same as images, only ending in .gif. :D

Wonderful report!

Damn shame, I rather liked Masahiro. Certainly one hell of a bombshell to kick off the new era with. Excellent report.

Awesome report !!
